On Tuesday, the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), and local officials gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new Onvo Service Plaza at the Highridge Industrial Park.
The event marked a significant milestone for the travel plaza and truck stop chain, which has been serving travelers for over 36 years.
This new location introduces Onvo's first Made-to-Order food program, "Food on the Fly," offering a menu that includes the signature Craverito burrito, as well as bowls and quesadillas. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a new line of handcrafted coffee, espresso, and lattes, further enhancing the plaza’s food and beverage offerings.
The grand opening event was commemorated with a unique twist on tradition: a burrito-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the debut of their fresh, made-to-order menu. The celebration was also highlighted by speeches from several distinguished guests, including Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce President Bob Carl, PADCO President Savas Logothetides, SEDCO President Frank Zukas, Schuylkill County Commissioners Barron Hetherington and Gary Hess, and Onvo’s Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Byard. Representatives of both state and federal elected officials were also in attendance.
The Gordon AMVETS played a ceremonial role by assisting with the flag-raising and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. As part of the celebration, Onvo presented a $2,500 donation to both the Gordon AMVETS and Cass Township.
