The Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven have released details on a fatal crash that occurred in Port Carbon last weekend.
According to a report released on October 20th, 2024, the crash occurred around 5:50am, on Sunday October 13th, 2024, on Route 209 near the intersection with Wood Street in Port Carbon.
Police say Caleb Vasura, 21, of Schuylkill Haven was driving a Jeep Patriot south on Route 209 when he travelled off the roadway and struck a boulder, two fence posts, and a concrete barrier.
Vasura was reported to be wearing his seatbelt but sustained serious injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pottsville where he passed away from his injuries.
Assisting State Police at the scene of the crash were the Port Carbon and Palo Alto Fire companies, Schuylkill EMS, and JRL Towing.
