The annual North Schuylkill Tournament of Bands, held on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, was a night of music and competition as high school marching bands from across the region gathered for an unforgettable musical showcase.
With the stands of Spartan Stadium packed with enthusiastic supporters, the event was a celebration of talent, creativity, and school spirit, featuring performances from 11 bands across several divisions.
The bands competing this year included ensembles from Notre Dame Green Pond, Tamaqua Area, Mifflin County, Hazleton Area, Mahanoy Area, Shenandoah Valley, Panther Valley, Blue Mountain, Shamokin Area, Wyoming Area, and the host school, North Schuylkill. Each band brought their unique flair to the field, captivating the audience and impressing the judges with their musical and visual presentations.
Judging and Divisions
The performances were evaluated by a panel of experienced judges, who rated each band on criteria such as visual appeal, musical execution, and adherence to their performance curriculum. The competition was divided into various groupings, including "Open" and "A" divisions, allowing for a fair comparison among bands of similar sizes and skill levels.

Group 1 - Open Division
- 1st Place: Lake-Lehman with a score of 84.30.
Group 1 - A Division
- 1st Place: Shamokin Area with a score of 86.96.
- 2nd Place: Wyoming Area with a score of 82.36.
- Exhibition: North Schuylkill performed and earned 81.69.
Group 1 - Festival Division
- Silver Rating: Notre Dame Green Pond.
Group 2 - A Division
- 1st Place: Hazleton Area with a score of 83.23.
- 2nd Place: Mahanoy Area with a score of 72.94.
- 3rd Place: Shenandoah Valley with a score of 70.84.
Group 3 - A Division
- 1st Place: Blue Mountain with a score of 82.04.
- 2nd Place: Panther Valley with a score of 73.00.
Group 4 - Open Division
- 1st Place: Mifflin County with a commanding score of 90.80.
Group 4 - Festival Division
- Gold Rating: Tamaqua Area.
