The District XI Golf Championships took place on Tuesday at Steel Club in Hellertown, where high school golfers from across the region competed for the chance to advance to the state level.
Several standout performances were seen in both the 2A and 3A divisions.
2A Girls
In the girls' 2A competition, Emma Troutman from Minersville secured 5th place, finishing with a score of +30. Carleigh Palmieri of Nativity BVM followed, placing 7th with a score of +43.
2A Boys
The boys' 2A division saw three local athletes qualify for the state tournament. Alan Evans of Schuylkill Haven took 3rd place with a score of +12, earning a spot at states. His teammate, Talan Spittler, finished closely behind in 5th place with a +13, also securing his qualification. Jude Maziekas from North Schuylkill rounded out the group of state qualifiers, finishing 6th with a score of +15.
3A Boys
In the boys' 3A competition, the local golfers faced a challenging field. Dylan Knittle from Blue Mountain and Maxum DiRenzo from Pottsville both finished in 27th place, each posting a score of +16. Gabe Kamarousky, also from Blue Mountain, finished 35th with a score of +29.
Next Stop: State Championships
The athletes who qualified for states will now prepare to compete at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Golf Championships, which will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, at Penn State Golf Courses in State College.
