Margaret “Peggy” Tertel, 74, of Park Place, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 2nd, at St Luke’s Hospital, Coaldale.Margaret was born in Park Place, PA on January 4, 1950, a daughter of the late Ethel (Miller) and Thomas McNiff.
She graduated from Mahanoy Area High School and then attained a Master’s Degree at Liberty University.
If you knew Peggy, you knew she couldn’t go anywhere without a Coca-Cola in a pair of high heels and a Misty Menthol 120. She was loved by her Pomeranian puppy, Bunker. He never left her side since the day he met her.
She loved to decorate. She could take an old rusty pot and turn it into something beautiful. Her love for nature and wild animals was remarkable. It was never a surprise to see a fleet of deer in her yard as you pass by.
Peggy had a love for holidays. If you grew up around Park Place, you spent an October night at one of her famous Halloween Parties. She was always coming up with ways to scare her many grandchildren and great grandchildren to get a laugh! Her faith was strong. On Christmas, she always had a cake to sing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus! She read her Bible daily.
She always talked about “the day” and reminded us often how she was not afraid and how when she passes to have a huge party and celebrate her life.
Peggy loved helping people and worked as a therapist for 28 years. She was currently employed at New Beginnings in Mahanoy City.
She was the wife of the late John C Tertel.
Margaret is survived by three daughters, Tamara, wife of Arthur Hersberger, of Eagle Rock; Patricia, wife of Norm Cunningham, of Park Place; Terry Tertel, of Park Place; a sister, Jane Simco, of Lewisberry.
She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a sister in law Carol Jadosh and her husband John of Middletown.
She is preceded in death by a brother Michael McNiff, and sisters Susan Yedsena, and Patricia Vanhorn, and 2 grandchildren Tyler Smith, and Jordan Ogrodnick, and one 1 great grandchild Randy Hughes.

Interment private at convenience of the Family National Cemetery Fort Indiantown Gap Annville, PA.

Mildred Ann Baker, 85, of Orwigsburg, passed away Saturday, September 28th, at Renaissance Home Pinebrook. Mildred was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on February 24, 1939, a daughter of the late Edith (Edwards) and William Shanely.
She was the widow of Charles Miller Baker.
Mildred is survived by two sons, Joseph Baker of Schuylkill Haven and Peter Baker of Fairfax, Virginia, her granddaughter Daniela Baker as well as a sister Edith and faithful friend Larry Corindi. She was predeceased by a brother William Shanely.
A religious service will be held October 7 at 1 PM at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Orwigsburg. Visitation will be held from 12 PM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Salem Evangelical Cemetery, Orwigsburg.

Born in Poland, on September 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Piotr and Serafina Dziemitko.
Maria worked in housekeeping at Manor Care Nursing Home in Pottsville. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Pottsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Weiss.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church in Pottsville on Tuesday October 8th at 10AM, with Rev. Kevin Bobbin officiating.
There will be no visitation or procession to the church.
The Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon is in charge of arrangements.

Born February 19, 1925 in Ashland she was the daughter of the late Gertrude (Schmidt) and Frank Klassen.
She was the wife of the late John Gough who passed in 1998.
Marie was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the former St. Mauritius Church in Ashland. She was a member of Saint Charles Borromeo in Ashland.
Marie graduated from Ashland High School in 1943. She was always involved in her high school class reunions. Marie was a member of Mothers Guild-Cardinal Brennan and Catholic Daughters of America.
Marie enjoyed her grandchildren, playing Yahtzee, crosswords, cooking, and crocheting.
She worked many years for the Diocese of Allentown as housekeeper in several rectories.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by; son John Gough; brothers George, Ted, Leo, Frank, & John; sisters Anna & Gertrude; 3 nephews Bill, Frank and Laurence.
Marie is survived by; daughter Barbara Gough, Boyton Beach FL; son Michael Gough (Marjorie), Bethlehem; daughter in law Maryann Gough, Kulpmont; 2 grandsons Thomas Coombe (Megan), Easton and Patrick Coombe (Jacquie), Boca Raton FL; great grandchildren Phoenix, Reiss & Lennon; many nieces & nephews.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning October 5th from 8:30-9:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo, 1115 Walnut St, Ashland PA 17921. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow mass at St. Mauritius Cemetery in Ashland.
