Gail J. Vesay
, 82 of Minersville died Saturday at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

She was born, September 12, 1942 in Pottsville a daughter of the late Joseph S. Sr. and Joan Callaway Garland.

Prior to retiring she was worked for Fleetwood Foundry.

She was of catholic Faith.

Throughout Gail's life she enjoyed collecting knickknacks and figurines. She loved nature and animals but the most important thing the meant the world her was her family.

Gail is survived by her children, Vaughn Vesay, Hegins; Van Vesay, Branchdale; Darrell Vesay, New Ringgold; Erin Vesay, Minersville, Shawn Vesay, Duncott; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Garland, Lewes, DE; Joseph S. Garland, Jr., Bethlehem; Janice Kurtek, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

Service of Remembrance will be held Friday at 11AM from the James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10AM until time of service. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.

Dawn M. Sloan
, 65, of Gratz, passed away suddenly Saturday night, October 19, 2024 at the UPMC West Shore Hospital.

Born in Harrisburg, on Monday, March 16, 1959, a daughter of the late William Sr. and Grace Miller Boyer. She was a 1977 graduate of Williams Valley High School.

Dawn resided in Williamstown for the majority of her life where she made lifelong friendships.

She was employed in the insurance industry for over 40 years, retiring in 2022 as a claim supervisor from Gallagher Bassett Insurance.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Berrysburg.

Dawn will be remembered for her cheerful and outgoing personality. She also was an avid Penn State fan. Above all else, Dawn's life revolved around her family. Her children and grandchildren were her world. She loved Christmas and would spoil her family with many presents. Every winter she looked forward to her trips to Florida with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Robert Sloan, who passed away 13 days prior on October 6, 2024.

She is survived by her two sons, James Nunley and his wife Melissa, Florida, and Joseph Nunley and his wife Cheryl, Harrisburg; two stepchildren, Crystal Brosius and her husband Richard, and Robert Sloan Jr., both of Northumberland; Dawn is also survived by Megan Mench whom she considered a daughter; eleven grandchildren; a sister whom she was extremely close to, Melody Herb, Iowa; a brother, William "Rusty" Boyer and his wife Gabrielle, Montana; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City, with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11. A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow at the Williamstown American Legion. Dawn will be laid to rest privately in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Machey
, 93, formerly of McAdoo, passed away Sunday morning at Mountain Top Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Born in Audenried, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Leshko) Ohrin.

Betty was a devoted member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo, the parish choir and the Prime Timers Club.

Prior to retiring, she was employed in the area garment industry and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Betty loved her family and friends dearly and will be sadly missed by all.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Machey; son, John S. Machey; sisters, Helen Matsko and Catherine Simmons; and brothers, Leonard and John Ohrin.

Surviving are her son Richard Machey of Bloomsburg; daughter Lorraine Domin and husband, Lawrence of Hazle Twp; son Jerome Machey and wife Deborah of McAdoo; grandchildren, Rebecca Turner and husband Josh, Robert Machey and wife Sarah, Richard Machey and wife Brittany, Nathaniel Machey, Marita Hess and husband Brian, Larry Domin and wife Krissy, Alex Domin, Amanda Motil and husband Stephen, Alyssa Machey and fiancé Adam Valkos, and Alison Nocera and husband Jay; great-grandchildren, Lily and Maksim Turner, Cason and Addison Machey, Paisley and Gavin Domin, Neala and Harper Machey, and Nora Motil; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery, McAdoo.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 10 to 11a.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Church of All Saints, 35 N. Cleveland St., McAdoo, PA 18237.

The Damiano Funeral Home Inc., McAdoo is assisting the family.
