Rita (Minchhoff) Lotz, 95, of Pottsville, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 1st, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, on February 17, 1929, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Elizabeth (Williams) Minchhoff.

She was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School, where she received the Cardinal Dougherty Award, and also graduated from the Ford Business School.

Rita was a life long member of St. John the Baptist Church.

She was the former owner of Liberty Oil Company, Port Carbon and retired in 1988.

Rita served on the Board Of Directors and was an officer for The Greater Pottsville Area Chamber of Commerce and also a member of The Catholic Womens Union. She and her husband, Robert, traveled extensively to Italy, France, and Germany, and many other countries.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Lotz, in 2001.

Rita was blessed and is survived by the following family members: Margaret Pauly with whom she resided; cousins: James Minchhoff; Judy Mancuso; Joanne and Ralph Wood; Stephen and Peggy Androsko; Joseph and Kate Pauly; Jacquelyn and Kenneth Moyer; Jocelyn Pauly; Marguerite LeBlanc, widow of Raymond Johnson; Bernice LeBlanc; Suzanne and Ed Rayfield; Marcel and Melissa LeBlanc: Judith DiObilda; Patricia and Ronald Lombel; Thomas Lotz; Peter and Lynn Lotz; Cynthia Monroe; Linda and Robert David Lotz; James Lotz; Marcia and Michael Smink; Dianne and John Rickards; Annette Curry; Father Stephen Curry; friends John and Joyce Gerace; and many more extended family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 8th, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA, with Father Stephen Curry officiating.

A viewing will be held on Monday, October 7th, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville and on Tuesday from 12:00p.m. until time of service at the church.

Interment will follow in St. John #2 Cemetery, Pottsville.

Luke J. Lynch
, 37 of Pottsville, died Tuesday at home.

He was son of Elaine Miller Lynch Hafer, Pottsville and the late Lawrence J. Lynch.

He was a 2006 graduate of Pottsville Area High School and a graduate of Penn State University.

Luke was employed by Hawk Mountain Labs, Hazleton and most recently Big Lot’s Distribution, High Ridge Park.

He was of Christian faith.

Throughout his life Luke loved the outdoors and nature, as well as having a keen eye for photography. Appreciating music, he was especially fond of bluegrass music and bands.

Holidays, birthdays, and special occasions were always a joyful family time and Luke’s presence, and easy-going smile will surely be missed. His sister, Jade, and cousins, Mariah and Hannah, will treasure the memories of the “Christmas gift exchange” and table games.

Surviving in addition to mother are his sister, Jade Lynch, Pottsville; stepfather, Greg Hafer, Pottsville; 2 stepbrothers, Brandon Hafer, and his wife, Ashley, Chesapeake, VA; Alex Hafer and his wife Brandy, Grand Junction, CO; aunts, uncles, cousins.

Services celebrating Luke’s life will be held Wednesday at 11AM from Freedom of Christ Church, Pottsville, with Pastors Mark Hochgertel, Jim Shields, and Greg Hafer officiating. Family and friends are invited to visitation from 9AM until the time of services. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Because Luke liked to help people with rides and in time of need, the family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Luke be made to Freedom in Christ Church of Schuylkill County, 1850 First Ave, Pottsville, PA 17901 designated for local outreach.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
