Dorothy J. Seidel, "Dot", 83, of Frackville, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest.

Born in Windsor Twp., she was the daughter of the late Arlan R. and Verna E. (Seip) Seidel. Dot was a 1959 graduate of Hamburg High School; and a 1963 graduate of East Stroudsburg University, receiving a bachelor's degree in education. While in high school, Dot was very involved in sports.

Dot was a physical education and health teacher at North Schuylkill High School, Ashland, for 37 years. She founded the first girls softball team at North School and led them to 3 league championships. In her honor, the North Schuylkill Softball Field was named the Dot Seidel Softball Field. Dot was recognized as a pioneer coach, not only by North Schuylkill, but also by the Schuylkill County Women's Athletic Association for her tireless commitment to athletics. She could be seen selling tickets at many North Schuylkill sporting events or sitting in the stands cheering on Spartan Nation. Dot was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Twp.

Dot was an avid golfer; golfing weekly up until the week before she passed. She was a member of White Birch Ladies Golf League; and active in her Senior Citizens Group. Dot was a life-long sports enthusiast, cheering on the Phillies, Eagles and Sixers. She was a very active person and would surround herself with her friends.

While Dot did not have children of her own, she loved her role as Aunt. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Dot" to everyone. She loved and spoiled all of her nephews, great nieces/nephews; and great-great nieces/nephews.

Dot is survived by one brother: Harold M. Seidel, husband of Ruth, Shoemakersville; numerous nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and sister-in-law: Jane D. (Fox) Seidel. She was predeceased by her twin brother: Donald J. Seidel; and brother: Paul R. Seidel, and his wife Mary.

Services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Monday, November 4, 2024 9:30 to 11:00 am. In honor of Dot, everyone attending her service is encouraged to wear their favorite sports attire.
