Herman J. "Sonny" Werner, 80, of Treichlers, and formerly of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 2nd, at St. Luke's Carbon Campus, Lehighton, PA.

Born in Philadelphia, on July 6, 1944, he was a son of the late Herman and Lillian (Merket) Werner.

He was a 1963 graduate of Pottsville High School.

Through the years Herman was a self-employed contractor with H.J. Werner Construction, retiring in 2020.

He was an honorary member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and the Slatington Skeet Club. In his spare time he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters: Joan Drey and Carolyn Schappell.

Herman is survived by his wife, Jacqueline M. (Lipsett) Werner to whom he was married 56 years; daughter, Heather L. Werner, of Emerald, PA; son, Dr. Sean P. Werner, husband of Leanne, of Palmerton; grandchildren: Heidi L. and Hunter V. Werner; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Father Phil Rodgers officiating.

A visitation with the family will be held on Friday at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, from 9:00 a.m. until the procession will leave for church.

Lord - Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Rita Ann Lewis
, 93 years of age, of Willing Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at home.

Born in Frackville, Pennsylvania on November 29, 1930 the daughter of the late George, and Josephine (Meshinsky) Fisher. Rita was also predeceased by her husband, William Franklin Lewis; sister, Carol Fisher; brother, George Fisher.

Surviving are; daughter, Cynthia Urben wife of Mark; sons, Mark Lewis and his companion Regina Moyer, Christopher Lewis and his companion Deborah Strausser her care givers; sisters, Betty Pfeil, Joanie Karmazin; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

A Tamaqua High School graduate, Rita was a member of the High School Drum & Bugle Corp. Rita enjoyed cooking and tending to her garden. Rita was a member of Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua. Rita and her husband owned and operated Tamaqua Door & Window for many years.

Beau Stetson Banzaca was born in the arms of God on September 20, 2024 at UPMC Hospital, Harrisburg.

Beau was deeply loved and eagerly anticipated by his family. Though his time was brief, he brought immense joy and hope. Beau will always be remembered and cherished, leaving a lasting mark on their hearts that will never fade.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Marion and Albert Achenbach.

Beau is survived by his parents, Robert Banzaca and Laura Schaeffer, Tower City; maternal grandparents, Bill and Sally Schaeffer, Tower City; paternal grandparents, Doug and Carmen Thomas, Harrisburg; four siblings, Nolan Schaeffer and Lina, Livi, and Ella Banzaca; an uncle, Bill Schaeffer and his wife Jen; an aunt, Carolyn Rager; great grandparents, Bill and Pat Schaeffer.

Regina M. Garrity, 78, of Pottsville, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

She was born November 1, 1945, in Pottsville, the daughter of the late Dr. Leroy Purcell and Helen (Reilly) Purcell.

She was a 1963 Nativity BVM High School graduate and attended Rosemont College.

Before retiring, she was employed by the Department of Labor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Bohorad’s Clothiers.

She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Regina’s unwavering dedication to her family, particularly her children and grandchildren, was the cornerstone of her life. She found immense joy in supporting them in their various activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Garrity, Sr, and a sister, Mary Kathryn Purcell.

Surviving are her son, Richard Garrity, Jr., and his wife, Heather; a daughter, Gretchen Garrity, all of Pottsville; two granddaughters, Abigail Garrity and Izabella Mathis; sisters, Dr. Marguerite Purcell-Southard, Lexington, KY; Joni Cerkan Richboro, PA; Helen Kimmel, Timonium, MD; and nieces and nephews.

The graveside service, a moment to honor and remember Regina, will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville, at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
