Michael Scott Hendry (Scott)
, 59, of E. Abby Lane, Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at home.

Born on August 20, 1965 in Philadelphia, he was the youngest child of Regina Lofft Martino (Largo, FL) and the late John J. Hendry, Sr. He attended Coastal Carolina University where he played baseball and first fell in love with the game of golf.

Scott began his working life as a golf professional, making a career out of the game he loved. He was an excellent player, but he was an even better instructor who could teach even the most challenged of new golfers enough to make them comfortable on the course. The next chapter of his work life was in sales, first as a sales person and eventually as the sales manager for multiple companies. At the time of his death, Scott had begun his own consulting firm.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a son, Daniel Bowman Hendry of Philadelphia; a brother, John Hendry, Jr. (Donna) of Fayetteville, GA; a sister, Terry Hendry-Grexa (Michael) of John's Creek, GA, nephews Jack and Adam, and niece Shannon.

Scott was charming and very funny. His sense of humor inhabited all that he did, and he could make people laugh even under distinctly un-funny circumstances. He often threatened to “chuck it all and go on the road” as a stand up comic, and those who knew him well believed he could have done it. In addition to playing golf and spending time with his son, Scott loved to kayak and hike, and he never saw a can of Pringles he couldn’t finish in one sitting.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family requests that any donations be made in Scott’s memory to First Tee, an organization that empowers youth through the game of golf.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove is handling arrangements.
