SCHUYLKILL LEAGUE SOCCER SEMIFINAL: Blue Mountain Edges Shenandoah Valley

In a high-stakes Schuylkill League boys soccer semifinal, the Blue Mountain Eagles narrowly defeated the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils 1-0, securing a spot in the championship match.

Both teams came into the contest on impressive streaks, with Blue Mountain riding an 8-game winning streak and Shenandoah Valley boasting a 14-game win streak after a stellar 17-1 regular season.

Shenandoah Valley, the Schuylkill League Division 2 champions, dominated much of the season, their only loss coming back in August against Warrior Run. Ranked 2nd in District XI Class 2A, they had already secured a place in the postseason before the semifinal clash.  Impressively, this was only Shenandoah Valley's 2nd season since the program was started.

Meanwhile, Blue Mountain, the defending Schuylkill League champions, entered the semifinal with a 12-5-1 record and the 2nd place ranking in District XI Class 3A. Known for their physicality and strong defense, they were determined to defend their title.

The game was a tight, physical battle throughout. However, Blue Mountain broke through when Dylan Knittle found the back of the net, capitalizing on an assist from Shawn Batory. Despite Shenandoah Valley's efforts to respond, they were unable to equalize.

Final Score:  Blue Mountain 1 Shenandoah Valley 0

With the win, Blue Mountain advances to the Schuylkill League championship match, where they will face Pine Grove on Thursday at 5:00 p.m at Blue Mountain.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils will look to regroup and shift their focus to the upcoming District XI Tournament, where they hope to make a deep playoff run.
