Shenandoah Man Faces DUI Charges After Frackville Crash



A Shenandoah man is facing DUI charges after a crash last week in Frackville.

According to Frackville Police, on Monday October 21, 2024, just before 1:00am, Borough Police were dispatched to the Unit Block of S Lehigh Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. 

Upon arrival officers located a a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was legally parked and sustained disabling damage to the driver’s side rear. A second vehicle, a Mitsubishi Lancer, was stopped on the sidewalk, with disabling damage to the front driver’s side and passenger side of the vehicle.

Officers spoke with the driver of the Mitsubishi, Omar A Coronado Rojas, 28, of Shenandoah.

Investigation revealed that Coronado Rojas was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. 

His vehicle did not maintain its lane, veered from the travel lane and struck the parked vehicle causing him to lose control. The vehicle then spun over 180 degrees, struck a telephone pole and came to a stop on the sidewalk. 

Coronado Rojas was transported to Lehigh Valley East for chemical testing which revealed his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit.

A criminal complaint was filed through Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarentelli’s office by Patrolman Bryce Dragna, charging Omar Coronado Rojas with Driving Under the Influence and Careless Driving.
