Six people were transported to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash in Mahanoy City on Sunday evening.
The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. near 412 East Centre Street when the first vehicle stopped for a red light at 4th and Centre Streets. A minivan rear-ended the first vehicle, causing a chain reaction in which a Kia SUV then struck the minivan from behind.

According to Mahanoy City Police Chief Thomas Rentschler, five occupants of the minivan and one person from the Kia were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ambulances from Tamaqua, Schuylkill EMS, Shenandoah, and Ashland responded to assist.
