Early Morning Blaze Destroys Home and Garage, Displaces Family in East Union Township

An early morning fire has displaced a family in East Union Township.

The call came into Schuylkill County Dispatch at 1:46am for a report of a garage fire at 746 Creek Road in Zion Grove, East Union Township near Ringtown.

As crews arrived, the call was upgraded to a working structure fire with the garage fire extending into the home and a 2nd alarm was advised.  The additional alarm called in extra manpower and apparatus from northern Schuylkill County as well as southern Luzerne County.

The fire quickly spread and destroyed both the garage and the home.

According to East Union Township Fire Chief JC Kriesher, the family of 3 and their 3 dogs have been displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Units remained on scene for several hours and a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was requested to investigate a cause.
