After Monroy’s vehicle fled the area, in the wrong direction on a one-way street against the flow of traffic on West Chestnut Street, Giddings attempted to chase after Monroy’s vehicle which resulted in Giddings losing control and striking a utility police at the intersection of South Center Street and West Chestnut Street. This caused the utility pole to be severed in two and numerous utility lines to be downed.  It also knocked power out in the area.

Officers spoke with Monroy, Spotts, and Guldin who stated they left the area due to Giddings threatening them. All three had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the person and stated that they consumed alcohol.

Giddings will be cited for reckless driving, driving with a suspended/revoked driver’s license, and other vehicle code violations. Monroy, Spotts, and Guldin will be cited for consumption of alcohol by minors.
