Frackville Police have released details of two crashes that occurred in the borough early Thursday within an hour of each other.
Frackville Man Faces DUI Charges After Hit-and-Run Crash into Utility Pole
According to Frackville Police, on Thursday October 31, 2024, hrs. around 8:20am, Frackville Police were dispatched to the intersection of N. Fourth and W. Pine St. for a reported motor vehicle accident. Information received indicated a vehicle struck a utility pole with no one around the vehicle. Upon arrival, Police learned a black Buick Verano had struck a PPL utility police and was found heavily damaged and unattended.Through investigation, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Johnathon Lee Kehler, 22 of Frackville, and he was later located at his Frackville residence. He exhibited signs of intoxication and was taken into custody.
Based upon investigative findings, charges of Driving Under the Influence, Accidents Involving Damage to Unattended Vehicle or Property, and Carless Driving will be filed through Judge Edward Tarentelli’s office by Patrolman Joseph Murton.
Frackville Police were assisted on scene by the Goodwill Hose Company.
Steering Failure Blamed as SUV Slams into Pole, Injuring Driver in Frackville
According to Frackville Police, on Thursday October 31, 2024, around 9:10am, Frackville Police were dispatched to the area of S. Balliet and W. Spruce St., behind Rite-Aid, for a reported motor vehicle accident. Information received indicated a vehicle struck a utility pole.
Through investigation, it was determined that Michelle Kitchen, 33, of Williamstown, was traveling south on S. Balliet St. towards W. Spruce St. Kitchen indicated that she lost steering and struck the pole.
Kitchen’s vehicle, a GMC Acadia, sustained heavy front-end damage. Kitchen was transported to Lehigh Valley East for evaluation.
