Girardville Man Flees Scene of Crash in Gilberton, Faces Charges

A Girardville man is facing charges after crashing a vehicle in Gilberton, then fleeing the scene.

According to Frackville Police, on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, around 12:30p, Police were dispatched to the area of Gilberton Coal Company on Gilberton Rd for a report of an accident with a vehicle into a pole.

Upon arrival in the area, a maroon Jeep was located on Gilberton Rd, just before the coal company. The vehicle had not been able to negotiate a left curve and struck a utility pole, rendering it undrivable.

No one was around the vehicle and the airbags deployed. A group of bystanders approached and advised three males wearing black and red had been picked up by a gray Chrysler and headed toward Mahanoy City. This information was relayed to other assisting units.

A gray Chrysler was located by Mahanoy Area School Police in the 600 blk of W. Market St in Mahanoy City.

The vehicle was occupied by three males wearing red and black. Through investigation, Police learned that Randy Robertson Jr., 35, of Girardville was the driver of the Jeep. Upon running a records check, Police learned that Robertson had a suspended driver's license, and the Jeep had an expired registration.

As a result of the investigation, a criminal complaint was filed through Judge Tarantelli’s office, charging Randy Robertson Jr. with Accidents to Involving Damage to Attended Vehicle, Careless Driving, Registration and Title Required and Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended.
