Kline Township Man Arrested for Threats and Trespassing in Kline Township Incident

A Kline Township man remains locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after a trespassing incident led to criminal charges in Kline Township last weekend.

According to court documents filed by Kline Township Police Detective Paul Bowman, Patrick McCarthy, 41, of Kline Township has been charged with terroristic threats, criminal trespass, harassment, and stalking following the incident that occurred on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024.

Detective Bowman reported that on this date, he was called to the home of a Kline Township Police Officer on Mountain Top Terrace around 9:45pm after the officer reported McCarthy continued to show up on his property after being told to stay away during prior incidents.

McCarthy was cited by Police Chief Petrilla on October 31st, 2024, for trespassing on the property and earlier in the day on November 23rd, 2024, he was also involved in an incident on the property that involved assault charges. McCarthy lived across the street from the officer.

Detective Bowman went to McCarthy's home and spoke to him about the numerous trespassing incidents.  When asked why he was on the property, McCarthy stated he was there to see his girlfriend.

Detective Bowman informed McCarthy that he was going to be cited for the 2nd time that day for trespassing, to which McCarthy replied, "I'm going to kill him".   Detective Bowman then asked McCarthy "What did you say?"  and he replied, "I'm going to kill him".

McCarthy was then taken into custody by Detective Bowman at that moment and arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on the above charges on $100,000 straight cash bail.

McCarthy remains locked up in prison with a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, scheduled for December 4th, 2024.
