St. Clair - In response to drought conditions, Saint Clair authorities are urging all residents and businesses to take immediate steps to reduce water usage.
Officials have outlined specific conservation practices to help safeguard the region’s dwindling water resources until further notice.
Residents are encouraged to implement these recommended measures to conserve water:
Efficient Appliance Use: Only run dishwashers and clothes washers when they are full. This helps reduce the frequency of usage and saves significant amounts of water over time.
Swimming Pool Restrictions: Avoid filling or topping off swimming pools. Pools require large volumes of water, and minimizing their refills will help conserve the area’s water supply.
Mindful Water Use: Turn off the tap while brushing teeth or washing dishes in the sink. This simple action can save gallons of water daily.
Dry Cleaning Methods: Use a broom instead of a hose to clean sidewalks, driveways, and patios. Cleaning with a broom avoids unnecessary water use that comes with hose washing.
Outdoor Watering Limits: Restrict watering grass, gardens, trees, and other outdoor plants. Watering during cooler parts of the day and reducing frequency helps conserve water while still meeting essential plant needs.
Vehicle Washing Restrictions: Limit washing or cleaning of mobile equipment, including personal vehicles, to essential purposes only.
