Mary Ellen Lewis, age 73, of Frackville, PA, passed away on Monday, November 11th, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest in Allentown. Born in Mahanoy City, PA, on September 14, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Weber) and Florian Swokel.Mary Ellen was a devoted member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Mahanoy City, PA. She graduated from Mahanoy Area High School in 1969 and went on to complete her nursing education at the Pottsville School of Nursing in 1972. She dedicated her career to nursing, a profession she was passionate about.
Mary Ellen was the beloved wife of Dr. Ivor Lewis. She is survived by her son, Jared, and his wife Angela Sluzalis, of Boonsboro, MD, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Paige and Noah. She was predeceased by her brother, James.
Mary Ellen had a love for animals and enjoyed her seats next to the dugout for Phillies Baseball. She was a fan of the Eagles band and, in her younger days, was a groupie for the Jordan Brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 AM on Saturday, November 16th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday at 9 AM at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Interment will follow at St. Canicus Cemetery in Mahanoy City, PA.

Ricky A. “Rick” Wanamaker, 64, of Auburn, passed away Sunday, November 10th, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Rick was born in Pottsville on April 18, 1960, a son of the late Arlean Fay (Yeich) and Delano Roosevelt Wanamaker.
He was the husband of Kathy Anne (Koppenhaver) Wanamaker. They were married August 6th, 1982.
He was a member of Kimmels Evangelical Free Church, Orwigsburg and he was also the Chairman of the Deacon Board and played drums for the church.
Rick worked as an Assistant to Building & Grounds for the Blue Mountain School District and he was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to play cards, especially pinochle.
In addition to his wife Kathy, of 42 years Rick is survived by his daughter, Lacie Tome, wife of Eric,of Millford, DE and his grandsons Jason & Oliver Tome, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his son Jason Wanamaker.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 15th at Kimmels Evangelical Free Church in Orwigsburg. Visitation will be in the church from 9:00 AM until time of service. Interment will be private.

Jeonne Ismaél Hernández Hernández, 41, of Minersville, passed away Tuesday November 5, 2024.
Born in Guatemala he was a son of Santiago Hernandez Acevedo and Marta Alicia Hernandez Martinez of Guatemala.
He is survived by his parents, Children, Brothers, Sisters, Nieces, Nephews and his family at Palermo’s Restaurant.

Catherine E. Brode, 86, of Tamaqua, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg. She was preceded in death by her late husband Eugene E. Brode. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late James and Esther (Houser) Hain. She was a 1955 graduate of Tamaqua High School. Catherine worked at Atlas Powder Company for 16 years and was a member of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, Pine Grove. Catherine enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking frequent walks, and sharing animated stories with family and friends. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by those who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor (Hain) Brode; son-in-law, John Winegar; brother-in-law, John “Jack” Brode; and sister-in-law, Kay Hain.
Surviving are two daughters, Dianne, wife of Gary Sterner, of Summit Hill, and Cindy Winegar, of Pine Grove; son, Eugene R. Brode, and wife, Theresa, of Tamaqua; brother, James Hain, of New Tripoli; sister, Edna Banditelli, of Macungie; Catherine also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jessica Sterner, of Allentown, John Wagner, of Wilkes Barre, Amy (Brode) Dalsan, of Philadelphia, and Matthew R. Brode, of Bloomsburg; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15, at Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rt. 309, New Ringgold, with Rev. Richard Clemson officiating. Friends and family may call 9:30-11a.m. on Friday. Private interment at Sky-View Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, Rt. 309, New Ringgold.

Born in Pottsville on April 19, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Kushlick) Rizzardi.
She was a 1956 graduate of Minersville High School. She retired from Admissions at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Helen loved animals and also enjoyed going to the Casino.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William A. Wagner in 2000; a Sister Alice Rizzardi.
Surviving are 3 daughters Valerie and her husband Scott of MD; Lisa Hinton and her husband Doug of Lancaster; Billie Jo Wagner and her fiancé Rob of Cressona; her brother Lou of MS; her sister Ann of Ohio; 1 Grandson Nathan; 3 Granddaughters Samantha, Laura and Alana; 2 Great-Granchildren Alex and Tommy; Nieces and Nephews.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday November 29 at 12:30 at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hillside SPCA PO Box 233 Pottsville PA 17901 or Lehigh Valley Hospice 2024 Lehigh St. Suite 100 Allentown PA 18103. Dutcavich Funeral Home, Minersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Marie L. Dower, 88, a resident of Turkey Run, Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 12th, 2024.
Marie was born in the former Locust Mountain Hospital on December 30, 1935, a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Donovan) Engelberger. She was educated locally and graduated from the former JW Cooper High School in Shenandoah.
Marie enjoyed the simple things in life, and enjoyed being a lifelong homemaker, taking care of her family and enjoying her many friends.
The last member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Dower in 2015, and by eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three children, Patricia Ruddy of New Boston; Rose Walsh, wife of Kevin Zimmerman of Girardville and John Ruddy of Georgia. One grandson, Sean Walsh of State College survives, as do nieces, nephews and many friends.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah.

William G Fishel, age 77, of Hegins, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at his residence.
He was born on Tuesday, May 20, 1947, in Indiana, PA, a son of the late Francis G Fishel and the late Betty J (Hilty) Fishel. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents William and Lela Hilty.
Bill retired from Dauphin County as Director of Vehicle Maintenance and also retired from the Paxtang Police and the Dauphin County Drug Task Force.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento.
He was also a member of FandAM Ashler Lodge of Lykens.
He was recently preceded in death by his beloved wife, the light of his life, Ginger J (Gilbert) Fishel. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Kocher; two brothers Russell and Robert Fishel, and a sister, Frances Kramer.
He is survived by two sons, Erin Kocher and his wife Kasey of Perkasie, and Jamie Barge and his wife Nikki of Lykens; seven daughters, Karla Mace of Lykens, Tomi Beers and her husband Tim of Valley View, Patricia Snelbaker and her husband Elwood of York Haven, Diana Edward of Gardners, Pamela Morrow of New Cumberland, Angelique Fishel of The Colony, TX, and Heather Fishel of Wormleysburg; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, Sandi Kauffman of Carlisle.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Raymond W. Holland, III officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen.
