Agnes “Aggie” E. (Fredericks) Leffler
, 86, of Pottsville, passed away on November 26, at Providence Place surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pottsville, on September 6, 1938, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Devine) Fredericks.

She was a 1956 graduate of Nativity BVM High School.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Over her 40-year career with Acme Markets, she worked at the Arch Street, Plaza, and Hazleton locations. In retirement, she worked as a door attendant at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home.

Agnes always enjoyed keeping a clean house and cooking. Some of her favorite dishes to made were halupkis, coleslaw, pepper cabbage, and famous “nanny” noodles. She loved making desserts to share with friends, especially her legendary peanut butter cups and her famous strawberry and peach pies.

She was always up for a road trip with family or friends to go shopping, see a show or visit family. She enjoyed collecting antiques.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Leffler, who passed away on June 13, 1987.

Surviving are her two loving sons, Edward J. and his wife, Joanne and Brian D. and his wife, Victoria, five loving grandchildren, Ashley Porter and her husband, Lyle, Angela Siminitus and her husband, Edward, Kaitlin Leffler, Gage Leffler and Sloane Leffler, one great grandchild, Paige Siminitus, two brothers, John “Jack” Fredericks and his wife, Mildred, and Lawrence “Butch” Fredericks, two nephews and three nieces.

A viewing will be held on Monday, December 9th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m. at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market Street, Pottsville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10th at 10 :00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, with the Rev. Kevin Bobbin. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment will be private at St. Patrick’s #3 Cemetery, Pottsville.

Donations can be made in Agnes’s memory to charity of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org). Online condolences can be left at SchlitzerAllenPugh.com.

The family would like to thank the staff of Providence Place and Compassus Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

Ann T. "Nancy" DeAngeles
, 95, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, November 26th, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville, with her family by her side.

Born in Pottsville, on August 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Canfield) Reddington.

She was a member of the former Mary Queen of Peace Church, where she was very active and past secretary of the Ladies Guild. She was presently a member of St. Patrick's Church in Pottsville.

Nancy was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School.

She was a secretary at the P & R and helped to run the family grocery store; in addition to being a homemaker and great cook and baker.

Nancy loved her family and most enjoyed attending her grandsons' sporting events.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. "Bange" DeAngeles, in December 2020, and to whom she was married 65 years; siblings, Jean Reddington, Frances Reddington Margle, Catherine Farrell, Rita McCaffrey, Elizabeth Reddington, Ellen Martin, the Rev. Benjamin Reddington, James Reddington, John Reddington and Thomas Reddington.

Nancy is survived by sons: Peter T., companion of Alicia Watson, of Pottsville; William M. Jr., husband of Kathleen, of Pottsville; daughter, Patricia A. Holanchock, wife of Howard, of Lake Wynonah; grandchildren: Stephen and Nicholas; great grandchildren: Ace and Willa Mae; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick R.C.C., 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville with Father Phil Rodgers officiating. A viewing will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, until the procession will leave for church.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville

Forrest "Tim" Deitzler
, 74, of Orwigsburg, passed away Monday, November 25th, at Laurel Center Genesis Health Eldercare , Hamburg.
He was born in Pottsville, Pa. on May 18, 1950, a son of the late Hilda (Osenbach) and Forrest Deitzler. Tim was the husband of Elaine (Smith) Deitzler. They were married on February 3rd, 1973.

He graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1968 and also Williamsport Community College. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg, and F & A M Lodge #138, Orwigsburg . He served as past master. In addition to being a carpenter, he and his wife Elaine spent many years transporting horses.

In addition to Elaine, his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his son, Tim Deitzler, a sister, Carmella, wife of Harold Faust, nieces and nephews and Ralph the potbelly pig.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:15 AM on Saturday, December 7th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00, at which time there will be a Masonic Lodge Service. Interment will be private.

Anne Pollog, 92, of Pottsville, formerly of Minersville, passed away Saturday November 23,2024 at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill.

Born in Jonestown, November 28, 1931, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Mynio) Hutsko.

She was a graduate of Cass Township High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Andrew Pollog in 2020, 5 Brothers Michael, Nicholas, Peter, John and Andrew Hutsko.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Pollog of San Antonio, TX; Thomas Pollog and his wife Mingzhu Zhu of Arlington, VA; three grandchildren Rachel Pollog of Tampa FL; Sarah Pollog of New York, NY; Matthew Pollog of Arlington, VA; Nieces and Nephews.

The family will accept visitors at the Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury St. Minersville, PA 17954 on Saturday November 30, 2024 from 9:00-10:00 AM when Panachida will take place. Requim Devine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11AM from St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 415 Front St. Minersville. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery. In Lieu of flower, contributions can be made to St. Nicholas Church at the above address.

Gerald T. Brown, “Jerry”
of Pottsville, age 70, passed away at Rosewood Nursing & Rehab Center on Monday November 25, 2024.
 
Born in Pottsville, March 23, 1954, he was the son of the late John Wm. (1972) & Alice K. (Parry) Brown (2000). He was also preceded in death by his brothers William J. (1955) & David W. Sr. (2016) & sister Patricia A. Dudash (2024)

He attended St, Joseph Day School for Special Learning, Pottsville, and was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Church. He worked part-time for 20 years at the J. H. Zerbey Newspaper, Bulls Head Plant, assisting with the newspaper distributions. He met many obstacles during His lifetime, due to his learning disabilities, but He always showed kindness to anyone he met, but also knew if you were belittling him. His heart was huge, wanting to share whatever he had with others. He loved wearing baseball hats & shirts with corvette/sports logos. Jerry loved talking to anyone who would take the time to share his conversation, looking through car books, doing jigsaw puzzles, coloring, collecting special treasures, and eating any type of food put in front of him. He also enjoyed anyone that came along with a dog that he could talk about & pet the animal.

Jerry was honored by the Schuylkill County Corvette Association in the Spring of ‘24, who came and paraded through the Rosewood lot to show him their corvettes. Through all his surgeries, He never complained, and only recently started complaining of pain, but now His suffering has turned to peace, and happiness with his heavenly family.

He is survived by sisters Mary Alice Leskin (Robert “Oscar”), Pottsville, Gail Kesten-Widow of Louis, Williamsburg, VA, brother-in-Law William Dudash, Shoemakersville. Nieces and nephews.

A graveside Committal Service for family & friends will be held at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville on Monday December 2nd at 12 noon.

Russell L. Woodward, Jr.
, 80 years of age, of Lansford, Pennsylvania died on Monday, November 25, 2024, at home.

Born Saturday, December 18, 1943 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania the son of the late Russell L. Woodward, Sr., and Geraldine "Jean" (Butler) Woodward. Russell was also predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Patricia A. (Toth) Woodward on August 24, 2013; son, Russell B. Woodward; brother, Donald Woodward.

Surviving are daughter, Lori A. Zonca wife of Joseph J. Zonica Jr. of Lansford; grandchildren, Tiffany Black, Colton Black; great grandchildren, Arri Cambria, Talon Cambria, Ryker Cambria, Ava Black, Carson black, and McKenna Black.

A Tamaqua High School graduate, Russel served honorably in the United States Army Artillery and Airborne Infantry training with the 101 First Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Retiring from the Panther Valley School District Russell was a bus driver, and worked as a custodian. Russell was a member of Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua, East End Fire Co. of Tamaqua, Lansford Fire Co.#1,and Coaldale Fire Department serving as Captain of the Fire Police since 1982. Russell was an avid outdoorsman.

Mary E Klinger
, age 77, of Hegins, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at her daughter's home in Hegins..

She was born on Saturday, July 5, 1947, in Tower City, a daughter of the late Richard L Gilbert and the late Eleanor M (Miller) Gilbert.

She was a graduate of the former Wiconisco High School.

She was a seamstress in area garment factories and later worked for Huntzinger Farms, prior to her retirement.

Mary loved shopping, dining at Pine Creek Restaurant, and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Gary G Klinger, Sr, passed away in 2023.

She is survived by a son, Gary G Klinger, Jr. and his companion Elaine Evans of Girardville; a daughter, Karen L Carl and her husband Brad of Hegins; seven grandchildren, Mikayla Spatzer, Wyatt Klinger, Zackery Dietrich, Cheyenne Klinger, Ben Klinger, John Klinger, and Ryder Carl; and a step grandson, Brenden Carl.

Following Mary's wishes there will be no services.

Mary Lou Gaughan
, 97, of Ashland formerly Byrnesville passed away Sunday November 24th at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Ashland on October 7, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Mary (Dougherty) and Joseph Donahue.

Mary Lou was the wife of the late Anthony Gaughan who passed away in 1986.

She was a devout Catholic and was member of St. Charles Borromeo in Ashland. Mary Lou was a member of St. Anne’s Guild and was known by many for making Easter eggs.

In her younger years she worked as a seamstress in several local factories. Later she worked for many years for Knoebel’s in catering. She also served on Centralia Borough Council for many years.

She enjoyed crocheting blankets, socializing and hosting parties.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by; daughter Patricia Fitzpatrick; son Tony Gaughan; son Joseph Gaughan; brother Michael Donahue; brother William Donahue; brother “Joey Doc” Donahue.

Mary Lou is survived by; sister Rose Ann Taylor, Ashland; daughter in law Anne “Nance” Gaughan, Wilburton; 7 grandchildren Kristen, Elizabeth, Shannon, Casey, Winnie, Angel & Anthony; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, in laws, etc.

A Mass of Chistian Burial will be held on Friday December 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 1115 Walnut St, Ashland PA 17921. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday December 6, 2024 prior to mass in the church. Interment will follow mass at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Centralia.
