Evelyn V. Prep, 102, of Sarasota, FL and former resident of Frackville passed away peacefully on November 10th.

Born in Mahanoy Plane, she was a daughter of the late Petronella and Eva Swartz.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Macknis; a son, Victor Prep; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Frackville.

Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home Inc., Frackville is in charge of the arrangements.

JoAnn Forkin
, 77, a resident of the Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehab and Center in Shenandoah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28th, 2024.

Born in Bronx, NY on May 7, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Nicosia.

JoAnn was a lifelong homemaker who loved to help others, who found a calling working as an advocate for local nursing home patients.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Nicosia.

JoAnn is survived by two daughters, Michele Abraham and Marianne Forkin, along with two fur grand babies, and her friend and caregiver, Amanda Green.

Private funeral services have been entrusted to the Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah.

Richard M "Satch" Savidge
, age 87, of Hegins, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - E Norwegian, Pottsville.

He was born on Sunday, June 20, 1937, in Fountain, a son of the late Charles M Savidge and the late Hattie M (Williams) Savidge.

He was a 1955 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School and a 1959 graduate of Lebanon Valley College.

He taught biology for 43 years at Tri-Valley High School. Satch was also basketball coach and athletic director for Tri-Valley. He also announced football games for Tri-Valley, where he coined the phrase "Do Kumma Da Hund".

He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain.

He was also a member of the Schuylkill County Sports Hall of Fame, past president of the PA Dutch Fersommling, and a member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Directors Association.

Satch enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and was an avid Penn State fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Sylvia Ernfield.

He is survived by his wife Jean L (Dietz) Savidge, to whom he was married for 67 years.

He is also survived by a son, David B Savidge and his wife Rebecca of Herndon; two daughters, Dr. Sandra J Savidge of Flemington, NJ and Jane L Savidge of Hegins; a granddaughter, Rachel C Savidge of Herndon; and a grandson, David R Savidge and his wife Meagan of Herndon.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View.

Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Rough and Ready.

Gloria M. Miller
, 72, of Shenandoah, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill East, Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah on February 12, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Nickolas M. and Sophia (Lesnikasky) Oliver.

Gloria was a 1970 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah then went on to a long career as a nurse’s aide, having last worked for the former Pottsville Hospital until her retirement. Outside of her work, Gloria enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, and watching her game shows on TV.

Besides her parents, Gloria was preceded by her husband, Dennis D. Miller and her sister, MaryAnn Hlubik.

Surviving family includes her daughter, Michelle Miller of Shenandoah, her son, Dennis Miller Jr. of Shenandoah, 4 grandchildren, Hayley Hammer with Richard- Georgia, Ashley Miller- Shenandoah, Danyel Miller- Shenandoah Heights, and Emma Miller- Mount Carmel, and 3 great grandchildren, Elijah Noel, Khai Anthony, and Giselle.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 5th from 3 to 5pm at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be offered to help assist them with funeral expenses.
