Ashland Borough Council approved its 2025 budget during a meeting on Wednesday evening, ensuring no increase in taxes for residents.
The budget passed unanimously by the members present.
Council members Adam Bernodin Jr., Francis Menne, and Jerome Schmoltze were absent from the meeting.
As part of the budget approval, council also adopted a resolution to set the borough's 2025 tax rate at 30.50 mills. The breakdown of the millage was detailed as follows:
- General Purposes: 25.10 mills
- Street Light Purposes: 2.50 mills
- Recreation Purposes: 2.10 mills
- Fire Equipment Purposes: 0.40 mills
- Capital Reserve Purposes: 0.40 mills
In other new business, council approved cyber insurance coverage for the borough and reviewed a notification from Ashland Little League regarding an upcoming project.
Council member Ann Marie Groody also reported and thanked the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation for the approval of 2 grants that will used to fix up two parks.
Additionally, council authorized the purchase of six new "stuntcams" for the Ashland Police Department. The cameras, costing $3,088, were requested to be purchased by Police Chief Ger Daley.
