Blaze Destroys Tremont Home, Displaces Two Families

Two families are displaced after a blaze in Tremont on Monday evening.

Just after 5:30pm, firefighters were dispatched to a working house fire at 312 East Main Street in Tremont.  Within minutes, a fire chief was on scene and confirmed a working fire showing from the rear of the home.

Firefighters from surrounding communities responded and battled the flames as well as winds and cold temperatures.

The quickly spreading fire forced firefighters to evacuate the structure as it engulfed the home and forced them to fight the fire defensively.

The home was reported to be a total loss with two families being displaced.  Those families are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

A State Police Fire Marshal was at the scene Thursday morning investigating a cause.
