Cruelty to Animals Charges Expected After Cumbola Fire

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville say that cruelty to animals charges are expected to filed after a fire in Cumbola on Friday.

Around 1:15pm, Friday, firefighters were dispatched to a working house fire at 171 Market Street in Cumbola, Blythe Township.  

Firefighters spent several hours at the fire that closed Route 209.

Further details from the fire reveals that numerous animals died in the fire as well as others being rescued.

On Saturday, Troopers announced that an investigation is underway into dog law violations and charges will be filed accordingly against a 37-year-old woman that owned the home.

State Police say the owner has agreed to surrender the remaining animals to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA.
