The North Schuylkill Lady Spartans delivered a commanding performance in their home opener on Tuesday evening, defeating the Pine Grove Area Lady Cardinals 63-29.
The victory marked North Schuylkill’s third consecutive win this season, while snapping Pine Grove’s three-game winning streak under new Head Coach Allison Rizzo.
The game began with intensity as North Schuylkill implemented a full-court press from the opening tip, challenging Pine Grove’s ball-handlers and disrupting their offensive flow. Despite the defensive pressure, the Lady Cardinals managed to edge out a slim 11-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
North Schuylkill found their rhythm in the second quarter, dominating on both ends of the court. The Lady Spartans’ relentless defense and fast-paced transition game allowed them to outscore Pine Grove 26-4 in the quarter, heading into halftime with a commanding 36-15 lead.
The momentum continued in the second half, with North Schuylkill extending their advantage to 57-25 by the end of the third quarter. Their depth and execution proved too much for Pine Grove, as the Lady Spartans closed out the game with a decisive 63-29 victory.
With the win, North Schuylkill improved to 3-0 on the season. They will face a test on the road test on Friday night when they travel to Minersville. Meanwhile, Pine Grove, now 3-1, will look to bounce back at home on Friday in a matchup against Panther Valley.
