Pottsville Man Arrested After Domestic Assault and Barricade Incident


A Pottsville man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

According to Pottsville Police, on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, around 5:30pm, City Police were dispatched to 535 North 8th St for a psychiatric subject. 

Dispatch stated there is a male, later identified as 31-year-old Joseph Green, harming himself and barricaded inside the home.

During the investigation it was reported that Green caused harm to himself and assaulted his live-in girlfriend earlier this day. 

Police spoke with the female victim by phone who, reported being assaulted by Green between approximately 10:00am and 2:00pm at the address on Wednesday.  Green allegedly injured the woman's arms and face and also choked her.

Pottsville Patrolman Usiel Reyes requested a warrant of arrest charging Joseph Green with Strangulation (F2), Simple Assault pursuant to Domestic Violence (M2), and Harassment (S).

Green was taken into custody and arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Andrew Serrina for his preliminary arraignment and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $2,500.00 straight cash bail.
