Alice E. Swartz, 95, of Ringtown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2024, surrounded by family at Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital Orwigsburg, after a long battle with pulmonary disease.Born in Frackville, January 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Hahn and Margaret Irvin Hahn.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville and a graduate of Frackville High School, class of 1946. She retired from The Hershey Company in 1988. Alice was also a licensed beautician and skilled seamstress who enjoyed reading and quiet life in the country. Her home was always a welcoming stop for visiting family and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald F. Swartz Sr. and her brothers Joseph, William, James, Graham and Harold Hahn.
She is survived by son Donald F. Swartz Jr. and wife Wende, Ringtown; grandaughters, Megan Swartz Remetta and husband Michael, Ringtown; Kayla Swartz, Bernville; and great grandson Cason Remetta; along with nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the family’s convenience.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s memory may be made to the Ringtown Area Library, P.O. Box 120, Ringtown, PA 17967.

Marjorie Lorraine Ludwig, 87, of Barry Township, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by her family, at her residence, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hegins at home, March 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Maurer) Dietrich. She was a graduate of the former Hegins Township High School, class of 1955, and a longtime member of the Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Barry Township, where she would often play the piano for Sunday School . Margie and her husband, Robert, owned and operated the former Ludwig’s Store, Deep Creek Road, for 19 years. She enjoyed working at the former Mitchell’s Bakery of Valley View, and the Deppen’s Pie Stand at the Gratz auction for many years. Margie’s greatest love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Her passion was cooking, baking, and family gatherings. She was well known for her infectious laugh, famous owl cookies, and Christmas holly. Preceding her in death was a son, Dennis, passing in 2021, sisters; Betty Schwalm, and Phyllis Dietrich, and her brother, Marlin Dietrich.

Daughter: Sandra, wife of Rob Kitchen, Holly, Michigan
Daughter: Jennifer, wife of Ed Stepulitis, Harrisburg
Daughter in law: Sally (Wedde) Ludwig
Siblings: Clifford Deitrich and his wife Alice; and Ruby Clouser. Sister in law Helen Dietrich and Brother in law Eugene Schwalm
Grandchildren: Daniel Ludwig and his wife Aerielle Anna Ludwig, Leah Smith and her husband Christopher, Joshua Kitchen, Mikayla Kitchen, Cole Stepulitis, and Evan Stepulitis.
Great Granddaughters: Elke and Maren Ludwig
Step Grandchildren: Mike Schwalm, James Frantz, Jennifer Collingwood, Nichole Jones, , and Lacey Testerman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Marjorie’s life funeral service, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11 AM, in the Barry Salem United Methodist Church, 858 Deep Creek Road, Ashland, PA. Officiating will be Rev. Benjamin Scholl. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will begin in the church at 8:30 AM until the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Barry Believers, a cancer support charity, c/o Barry Salem United Methodist Church, 837 Deep Creek Road, Ashland, PA 17921.
