Debra L. “Debbie” DeLuca, 53, of Green Lane, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Allentown.

Born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Linda L. (Heil) DiCarlo of Tamaqua. Debbie was a 1989 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. She was a people person and loved to care for others. That quality made her an excellent certified nursing assistant, working at Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton; Manatawny Manor, Pottstown; and the Southeastern Veterans Center, Spring City, Pennsylvania.

Her daughter, Mikayla, made up the entirety of Debbie’s world. Debbie was known as the “fun mom,” and always wanted to be involved in what was going on in Mikayla’s life. That included volunteering and coaching at Mikayla’s school. Debbie did everything in her power to help her daughter succeed in life, especially supporting her to obtain a great education. She was known to her close family as “Gutchie,” a nickname given to her by her brother. Debbie had a big personality and undeniably loving spirit. She was always smiling, laughing, and having a good time. She had an impact on each person she interacted with, and her loss will leave a huge hole in many hearts. Debbie lived her life to the fullest, despite the many challenges thrown at her. She was always a fighter, and she fought till the end.

Debra is survived by her loving daughter, Mikayla Scheetz and her husband Brennan of Emmaus; her mother, Linda DiCarlo of Tamaqua; two brothers, David V. DiCarlo of Tamaqua and Dennis M. DiCarlo and his wife Jerilyn of Tamaqua; three nieces and three nephews; and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Call Saturday from 9-11 AM at the funeral home.
