Two Charged in $10,000 Vandalism Case at Minersville Rental Property

Charges have been filed against two individuals accused of causing significant damage to a rental property in Minersville.

Haley Becker, 30, and Bunnie Becker, 38, both of Minersville are facing felony counts of Criminal Mischief after an investigation revealed extensive destruction to the interior of a residence they had leased.

Minersville Police Patrolman Eric Wilson filed the charges on December 11th, 2024 following a complaint from the property owners, Lisa and Rocco Maccarone.

According to the affidavit, the Maccarones, who own the home at 49 Westwood Street, discovered the damage during an inspection on September 3. The inspection was prompted after the lease agreement, initially set to run until June 30, 2027, was terminated prematurely.

The affidavit details a litany of damages throughout the property, including broken appliances, spray-painted walls, ripped-up carpets, graffiti, and severe structural harm. Among the more shocking findings were dog fecal matter inside the refrigerator and hammer holes in the walls. The damages on the first and second floors were captured on a thumb drive presented to Patrolman Wilson by the Maccarones.

An insurance adjuster from Travelers Insurance, Richard Korn, corroborated the extent of the destruction during a formal inspection. The total damage to the property was assessed at $10,621.64, prompting the Maccarones to file a vandalism claim.

The criminal complaint states that the damages resulted from intentional acts rather than accidental occurrences.
