A woman was injured this past week in a crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.
The crash occurred around 8:00am on Friday, December 6th, 2024, in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 113 in Foster Township.
Troopers say Jassiell Smith, 26, of Hazleton was driving southbound in her Honda Civic when she lost control of her vehicle while doing her makeup and having her vehicle in self-driving mode.
Smith's vehicle went onto the shoulder causing her to lose control, veer into the median and hit a tree. The vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front of the vehicle.
Smith was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries by Minersville EMS. She was reported as not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Smith will also be cited for the crash.
The Minersville Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash.
