The Reading Fightin Phils announced on Tuesday that eight members of the 2024 Roster have received invitations to Major League spring training.
In total, 11 former Fightin Phils will be part of the Phillies’ big league camp next month.
Headlining the group are top prospects Aidan Miller, the Phillies’ No. 1-ranked player, and Justin Crawford, ranked No. 3. Both players made an impact in Reading during the latter part of the 2024 season.
Joining them are fellow 2024 Fightin Phils standouts Gabriel Rincones Jr. (ranked No. 10), catcher Caleb Ricketts (No. 22), and versatile infielder Otto Kemp (No. 25). These rising stars are expected to bring excitement and depth to the Phillies’ spring training roster.
Also earning invitations from the 2024 Fightin Phils roster are catcher Josh Breaux, left-handed pitcher Tristan Garnett, and utility player Carson Taylor. Their performances in Double-A last season impressed team officials enough to warrant a closer look in big league camp.
In addition to these eight players, three other former Fightin Phils have been invited to participate in spring training: Matt Kroon (2022-23), Griff McGarry (2022-23), and Andrew Painter (2022).
The Phillies will officially report to spring training in Clearwater, Florida, in February, with the first game scheduled for Saturday, February 22, against the Detroit Tigers. A highlight of the preseason will be the second annual Spring Breakout Game on Friday, March 14, featuring a matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates' top prospects. Rosters for this special game will be announced in the coming weeks.
Looking ahead, the Fightin Phils will return to FirstEnergy Stadium to kick off the 2025 season on Friday, April 4, against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
