A fire damaged a home in Gilberton on Saturday morning.
Around 9:50am, emergency personnel were dispatched to 120 Main Street in Gilberton for a report of a house fire.
The call came in with a report of the home filling with smoke, but Englewood Fire was first on scene and advised of a working fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the Main Street end of the modular home.
Units from Gilberton, Mahanoy Plane, Englewood, Frackville, Shenandoah, and Mahanoy City all responded to the scene with the fire being brought under control within a half hour. The fire was caused heavy damage to the living room but was contained to that room.
The resident that lived in the home escaped uninjured, but a cat was reported to have suffered smoke inhalation.
Gilberton Fire Marshal Barry Brassington said the cause is under investigation and a State Police Fire Marshal will be at the scene Saturday to investigate.
The resident was reported to be staying with family.
