Four Displaced After Duplex Fire in Pottsville

A fire damaged a duplex home in Pottsville on Friday morning.

The dispatch for the fire came in just after 6:00am for a report of a house fire at 679 North 2nd Street in the City.

Firefighters arrived and advised of a fire at 676 and 678 North 2nd with fire showing from all 3 floors of the duplex home.

Emergency personnel faced heavy fire and evacuations tones were struck early in the call.  The fire struck a 2nd alarm calling in extra manpower from outside the city.

The fire was brought under control but both homes suffered extensive damage.

The American Red Cross was requested for 4 adults that lived at 678.  The home at 676 was vacant and believe to under renovation.

As of Friday afternoon, the cause was still under investigation.
