Frackville Man Arrested for Strangulation After Domestic Disturbance


A Frackville man is facing charges after a domestic dispute this past weekend.

According to Frackville Police, on Saturday January 11, 2025, around 3:00pm, Police were dispatched for a Domestic Disturbance at a residence in the 300 blk of W. Chestnut St. 

The female victim reported that she and her husband, Luis Cruz-Ortiz, 30, of Frackville were initially having a verbal argument when Cruz-Ortiz grabbed her and began to choke her on the bed within the residence. 

The victim reported having her airway obstructed and had difficulty breathing. 

As a result of the investigation, Cruz-Ortiz was taken into custody pursuant to Domestic Violence. 

A criminal complaint was completed by Ptlm Bryce Dragna, charging Cruz-Ortiz with Strangulation, Simple Assault and Harassment. 

A preliminary arraignment was held before on call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.

Assisting with the incident were West Mahanoy Township Police, Butler Township Police and Pennsylvania State Police
