Interstate 81 has reopened after several crashes closed the highway overnight in Northern Schuylkill County.
The crashes occurred just after midnight, Thursday, in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 129 and 126 (Between Mahanoy City and Frackville). The two separate crashes occurred just minutes apart and it was found that there was severe icing on the roadway.
Interstate 81 southbound was closed at the Mahanoy City exit while the scene was cleared.
The highway reopened just before 5:30am.
No information was available on the crashes or if there were any injuries.
