An urgent care in St. Clair might undergo changes in the coming months with new owners.
The MedExpress Urgent Care located at 4 Clover Drive in St. Clair, adjacent to the Coal Creek Commerce Center, may be facing closure on March 31, 2025, according to an employee who stated that staff were informed of the potential shutdown via a phone call. The employee attributed the anticipated closure to a buyout by UPMC-GoHealth.
However, official confirmation of the closure has not been provided. In a statement addressing the transition, Allison Hydzik, Senior Director of Public Relations for UPMC and University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences, said:
“UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care has assumed operations of the MedExpress Urgent Care in St. Clair, Schuylkill County. As we work through the transition, we are carefully considering many factors to determine how we best fit into the community and will share updates as we finalize those plans. In the meantime, the MedExpress Urgent Care in St. Clair is open and available to serve the Schuylkill County community.”
The future of urgent care services at the St. Clair location remains uncertain as UPMC-GoHealth evaluates its role within the area. For now, residents can continue utilizing the existing MedExpress facility as discussions and plans develop.
