Pottsville Man Arrested After Assaulting Pregnant Girlfriend in Domestic Dispute

Pottsville Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at the Market Square Apartments on Friday, January 17, 2025.

According to the police, County Dispatch indicated that the victim, an eight-month-pregnant woman, was crying and reported bleeding and severe pain.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old woman sitting on the floor of her living room, holding her stomach and crying. The victim had a bleeding cut on the tip of her left ring finger and told officers that her boyfriend, Kyrell Improta, 19, of Pottsville, had assaulted her. She stated that during an argument, Improta punched her in the head with a closed fist, causing significant pain. She also reported that he struck her abdomen with his elbow, resulting in severe lower abdominal pain.

Emergency medical services transported the victim to Lehigh Valley Hospital East Campus for evaluation.

Police located and arrested Improta at a residence in the 900 block of West Race Street. He was charged with simple assault pursuant to domestic violence (M2) and harassment.

Improta was arraigned before District Justice Reiley at 3:00 p.m. and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, with bail set at $5,000 at 10%.
