Pottsville Police Arrest 40-Year-Old Man After Found with 15-Year-Old Girl in Hotel Room

A Pottsville man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after he was caught with a 15-year-old in a motel.

According to Pottsville Police, on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 8:39am, Detective Krammes was dispatched by County Communications to City Hall for a report of a runaway juvenile.

Upon arrival, he made contact with a mother who made a report that her 15-year-old daughter was missing. The mother stated that on her Life360 App it shows that the 15-year-old went for an 18-minute drive around 3:00am and then her phone was showing near the Dairy Queen in the 400 block of North Claude A Lord Blvd. ever since.

Based on the location of the phone and the fact that it was in the same spot for over 5 hours, Detective Krammes went to the Pottsville Motor Inn where he made contact with the owner and asked if anyone checked in overnight.

The owner showed him that two people checked into rooms last night. The first room was a female and the second room was a male named Reginald Spencer who checked into room 103. On the card he listed his address as 2163 West Market St. in Pottsville and reported having two occupants (himself and one other occupant) in the room. Due to the fact that this room made the most sense, he went to room 103 first.

Detective Krammes says he knocked on the door and observed a black male with dreads look between the curtains. After a brief time, Krammes then knocked on the door again. The male who later identified himself as Reginald Spencer answered the door. The 15-year-old was also located inside the hotel room. Marijuana was also seized at this time.

Detective Krammes interviewed the 15-year-old who stated that she did not know Spencer was 40 years old. Also, stated that she met Spencer almost two weeks ago when he stopped and asked her if she needed a ride. The victim said that she told Spencer she was 15 years old and that he told her she was 20 years old. The investigation also revealed that they texted and met one time before.

On this date, the victim said once inside the Motor Inn, Spencer began making a marijuana cigarette. Spencer then gave the marijuana cigarette to her. She stated that she took multiple hits from it and said that it seemed to have a strong effect on her. She said she didn't remember a lot after the hits from the marijuana cigarette but she does remember Spencer and her having intercourse. She also remembered a moment when he picked up his phone to record the intercourse. The victim said that she doesn't remember how or when the intercourse stopped.

Captain Welsh and Detective Krammes then took Spencer into the interview room. Spencer was read his Miranda Warnings and signed a waiver of those warnings. Spencer initially lied about everything except the two of them being together. Spencer stated that they went to the room to hangout and both of them fell asleep. Spencer stated that it was the victim who lied about her age and stated that she was in college. Spencer then stated that the two of them kissed.

Spencer eventually admitted to giving the victim some of his prescription marijuana to smoke then after a little while of listening to music the two of them began to kiss and eventually led to intercourse.

An investigation showed that Spencer sent multiple pictures to her of himself nude and then a short video of him pleasuring himself.  Spencer then begs her to send pictures of herself nude and eventually she does send a picture of herself unclothed.

Based on the above stated facts, Detective Krammes requested a warrant of arrest for Reginald Spencer charging him with statutory sexual assault, 2 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, Indecent assault, indecent Exposure, two counts of corruption of minor, sexual abuse of children, unlawful contact with a minor and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Spencer was taken into custody and arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Andrew Serina and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.
