Lee D. Moyer
, 86, of Schuylkill Haven passed away peacefully on Sunday at his home with his family at his side.

Born in Summit Station he was the son of the late Milton and Jennie Yeich Moyer.

Lee was a graduate of Cressona High School in 1955. He then went on to serve in the United States Army.

Upon his return from his service in the Army he married the former Florence L. Foose and started a family. Lee and his wife enjoyed to travel and visit casinos throughout their marriage.

Lee was employed at the former Scott Millwork Lumber Company in Cressona for 43 years. He then later took ownership in 1985 and ran the business until his retirement in 1999.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Auburn. He was also a member of Schuylkill Hose Company No. 2, Summit Station Fire Company, Cressona Goodwill Fire Company, and a past member of the Schuylkill County Builders Association.

Lee is survived by his wife of 68 years, Florence L. Moyer along with their children; Deb Bensinger of Schuylkill Haven, Janet Sattizahn of Schuylkill Haven, Robert Moyer husband to Tracy of Pine Grove, Joan Hill of Friedensburg, Brenda Moyer of Ravine, and Nancy Mack wife of Laine Jr. of Tremont. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Blake, Glenn, Erica, Janel, Jennifer, Rebecca, Cody, Brandi, Thomas, Paige, Amanda, Heather, and Kyle along with 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Milton Moyer sisters; Sallie Krause, Esther Mengel, Marion Ziegler, and Anna Mae Reichert.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at a later date on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Mary Nester Zukovich, 104, formerly of McAdoo, passed away Monday at Providence Place Senior Living of Lancaster.

Born July 29, 1920, in Audenried, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Pajza (Suhina) Nester.

Mary was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, McAdoo, and she was devoted to her church parish. She was a graduate of Hazleton High School, class of 1937.

Prior to retiring, Mary was employed as a hostess at the former Scrafford’s of Hometown and also at the Valley Market.

Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and she will be sadly missed by all.

Preceding her in death, were her husband, Michael J. Zukovich; brothers, John, Peter, Michael, Metro, Joseph, Walter, and Joseph Nester II; and son-in-law, Dr. Jack Potochny.

Surviving are her daughters, Mary Louise Potochny of Hometown; and Elaine Schlachter and husband, Bart of Conestoga; son, Michael J. Zukovich Jr. of Hancock, NY; grandchildren, Joseph, Mary Catherine, and Kurt Schlachter; and Dr. John, Dr. Nicholas, and Dr. Evelyn Potochny; great-grandchildren, Talia and Irena Potochny; Teresa Porter; and Joseph Lee, Julia and Anna Schlachter; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, McAdoo. The Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, McAdoo, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Oleh Kuts as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

A calling hour will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 210 W. Blaine St., McAdoo, PA 18237.
