Sandra Lea Zimmerman, 72, of Minersville, passed away Sunday, January 19th, at her home. 

Sandra was born in Pottsville, Pa. on February 10, 1952, a daughter of the late Eleanor (Smith) and late George Russell. She was the wife of Glenn E. Zimmerman. She was a former Seamstress in the local garment industry. Sandra is survived by her husband, Glenn, a daughter, Angela Zimmerman, also survived by her grandsons, Colby Schweikert, and partner Desiree Stevenson, Ian Shaak and partner Kaila Gilpatrick. 

Services are private at the convenience of family. 

Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.

Walter P. Fronczak
, aged 82, of Morea, PA, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 19th, 2025. Born on September 6, 1942, in Morea, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Julia (Chrusch) and Edward Fronczak.

Walter was a proud graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a SPC4. He dedicated many years to the local garment industry before joining Miller Bros. Construction in Schuylkill Haven, where he worked until his retirement in 2007.

A member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Frackville, PA, Walter was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly fishing. He spent countless hours at Locust Lake and Tuscarora State Parks, with a special fondness for ice fishing. His vacations to Black Lakes in upstate New York with his brother in law and nephew were cherished times.

Walter was a skilled handyman, often seen helping others with home repairs, and enjoyed the camaraderie at Stetts garage. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Paula (Plasksia) Fronczak, and his siblings: Joan (John Bridgen) of Elizabethtown, Eleanor (Steve Mateyak) of Lititz, Edward (Rose) of Lancaster, Thomas of Morea, and Daniel (Roseann) of Morea. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Julia Breams, Dorothy Gradwell, and Marie Lando. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Frackville, PA, at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 27th, with Rev. Giuseppe C. Esposito officiating. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, PA, and on Monday at 9:30 AM at the church. Interment will follow at St. Casimir Cemetery, Mahanoy City, PA.

Joseph E. Avillion, 78, of McAdoo, passed away Monday evening at the Pavilion at St. Luke Village, Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton, he was a triplet son of the late John and Eleanor (Baltra) Avillion. He was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Prior to retiring, Joseph was the proprietor of J & R Roofing and Joseph Avillion Construction, McAdoo.

Joseph was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and quad rides.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Diane R. (Russo) Avillion; triplet brother, Jeffrey Avillion; and brother, John Avillion Jr.

Surviving are his daughter, Gayle Chesick, Spring Hill, FL; son, Jeffrey Avillion Sr. and wife, Dina Gardner, McAdoo; grandchildren, Jessica Zabrosky, Jeffrey Jr., Jarrin and Olivia Avillion, and Savanna and Daniel Gardner; sisters, Rose Laputka and husband James, Freeland; Geraldine Shewack and husband James, Hazleton; and Eleanor Zoshak, Freeland; triplet brother, James Avillion and wife Carol, Freeland; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.

The Damiano Funeral Home, McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
