Louis “Poppy” P. Fetterolf
, 76, of Lavelle passed away Monday afternoon January 20, 2025 at his residence.

Born in Ashland on October 9, 1948 he was the son of the late Mary (Ossman) and Louis A. Fetterolf.

Lou graduated from Ashland Area High School in 1966.

He was of the Christian faith.

For over 50 years he was the husband of Debra L. (Hubler) Fetterolf they were married August 24, 1974.

Lou served in the Army during Vietnam. He was a Bronze Star recipient.

He most recently worked for Arcos in Atlas. Lou enjoyed doing yard work, working in the garage, making bird feeders, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Robin Wehry and brother-in-law Melvin Krise.

Lou is survived by; wife Debra L. Fetterolf, Lavelle; daughter Angela M. Fetterolf (Scottie DeFilippo), Lavelle; brother Randy Fetterolf (Deb), Ashland; brother David Fetterolf (Anna), Ashland; sister Deb Berner (Leroy), Ashland; sister Susan Herb (Daniel), Lavelle, sister Janet Krise, Lavelle; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday January 27, 2025 at Church of the Nazarene, 2879 Fairgrounds Rd, Lavelle, PA 17943. A viewing for family and friends will be held in church prior to the service from 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon. Burial with full military honors will follow services at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Ralph “Jake” H. Clark
, 71, of Phineyville (Ringtown) passed away Sunday January 19th at his residence.

Born in Hazleton on February 22, 1953 he was the son of the late Clara Edna (Broscious) and Robert “Butch” A. Clark.

Jake graduated from West Hazleton High School in 1971.

Jake was of the Lutheran faith and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brandonville.

He was last employed as a truck driver for Stroehmann Bakeries in Hazleton. He was also a caretaker for the Girard Manor Cemetery for many years.

Jake loved the outdoors. He was also big Phillies fan.

In addition to his parent’s he was preceded in death by his beloved dog and best friend Bradley.

He is survived by; daughter Tina Clark, Danville; daughter Sherri Clark (John), Womelsdorf; brother Robert “Bobby” Clark Jr. (Linda), Shenandoah; sister Diane Shumway (Robert), Sugar Run; brother George Clark (Cindy), Phineyville; sister Claraann Schultz (Ronnie), Schuylkill Haven; 3 granddaughters Caitlyn, Taylor and Koreena; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services at the Girard Manor Cemetery in Phineyville will be held this spring.

Herbert G. DeWitt, 86, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday, January 20th, at home.

Born in Norristown on October 18, 1938, he was the son of the late Arlene (Wolfe) and Herbert G. DeWitt, Sr.

Herbert was the widower of Ruth M. DeWitt.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Herbert is survived by daughters, Sherry, wife of Jeff Kline, of Cressona;
Debra, wife of Clarence Donton, Jr., of Pottsville; Tammy, wife of Marc Nespeca, of Schuylkill Haven; and sons, Terry DeWitt, of Hometown; and Todd DeWitt, of Pottsville. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Herbert is preceded in death by children: Keith, Barry, and Craig DeWitt; and grandson, Marc Nespeca.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Pearl Marie Pominville
, 71, of Allenwood Circle, Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Born on November 22, 1953 in N. Manheim Twp., she was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Alice Hutton Pominville.

Surviving are a sister, Bernadette and husband Leonard Moyer of Schuylkill Haven; three brothers, Abraham Pominville of Las Vegas, NV, Gary and wife Elaine Pominville of Schuylkill Haven, Warren Pominville of Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Pine Grove Council of Churches for the Weekday Church School c/o Cathy Nagle, 527 Dad Burnhams Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972 in her memory.

Robert L. Rice
, 82, of Orwigsburg, passed away Monday, January 20th, at Luther Ridge, Pottsville.

Born in Sellersville, PA on August 17, 1942, he was a son of the late Jacob & Nora (Alderfer) Rice.

Married 60 years, he was the husband of Ruth E. (Teuscher) Rice.

Bob was a Souderton High School graduate.

After 19 years, he retired from Berks County Prison as a correctional officer. He had been previously employed by Mid Atlantic Canners for 15 years.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three sons: Byron, husband of Stephanie Rice, of Orwigsburg; Kyle, husband of Cindi Rice, of Deer Lake; & Kenneth, husband of Laura Rice, of Schuylkill Haven. Bob is also survived by grandchildren: Ashley, Zachary, Joshua, Mitchell, Caleb, Kendra, Aaron, and Reagan; great grandchildren: Dominic, Gio, Jade, Levi, Holden, Emmett, Roman, & Josiah; & siblings: Vernon Rice, Bird in Hand, David Rice, Nebraska, & Mary Martin, Fleetwood.

Services will be privately held at the family’s convenience.

Our dear Mother, Edith Lorraine Smith Houtz sadly passed away on January 18, 2025 at St. Luke’s Geisinger Hospital in Orwigsburg, PA at the age of 97. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for her children offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Edith was a beloved figure of Deiberts Valley Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA since 1963.

Born in Pottsville, PA on January 5, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin & Elsie Faller Smith. She attended Pottsville School District.

Edith was a widow of William H. Houtz, Sr. She was a member of Reedsville EC Church.

Edith was well taken care of by her granddaughter, Rebecca Donton. Rebecca was her caretaker for the last seven years of her life.

A devoted mother, she is survived by four children, Sharon Fryer, wife of James Fryer, Beverly Houtz, Marvin Houtz, husband of Kimberly Spital Houtz, and Gregory Houtz, husband of the late Mary Beth Stinnett Houtz.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Eleanor & Elsie and a brother Charles. Also by her husband, William Houtz, Sr. & son, William Houtz, Jr.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family and be laid to rest at Schuylkill Memorial Park beside her husband, William.

Doreen E. Zimmerman, 83, of North Manheim Township passed away Saturday, January 18th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville on May 18, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Clarence F. & Dora L. (Schappell) Dierwechter.

Married 38 years, Doreen was the widow of Jerome H. "Humpy" Zimmerman, who preceded her in death in 2014.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Bashore, & siblings: Phyllis Dierwechter, & Meldon Dierwechter.

She was a Blue Mountain High School graduate.

Doreen is survived by a daughter, Terre Renninger (Richard), three sons: Danial Bashore (Marian Miller), Gerald Bashore (Brenda Reber), & Kyle Zimmerman (Cathy Hogan), grandchildren: LeeAnn, Richard Jr., Michael (Sarah), Daniel, Dana Phillips (Brian), Brandon, Devon, & Maya, great-grandchildren: Everly, Elle, Hartlee, Nathan, Elijah, Jayden, Tanner, Logan, & Cecily, sister, Sharen D'Aurizio, & several nieces & nephews.

Private services will be held at the family’s convenience.

Arlene Oakill, 89 of Pine Grove, formerly of Minersville passed away Friday January 17, 2025 at her home.

Born in Pottsville July 23, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Olga (Studlack) Oakill.

She was a graduate of Cass Township High School, going on to work as a Teller for the First National and Miners Banks in Minersville.

She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Minersville.

She is survived by numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday January 25, 2025 from St. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 558 Sunbury St., Minersville, PA 17954. Friends may call from 9-10:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church memorial fund. Dutcavich Funeral Home, Minersville is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel J. Huddleson
, 77, of Pine Grove, formerly of Williamstown passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at his home.

Born in Philadelphia, March 6, 1947, a son of the late Howard and Glenda Frick Huddelson.

Dan was a graduate of Williamstown High School and Kutztown University where he received his Bachelor's in Education.

He spent his entire teaching career of 34 years at Williams Valley School District starting in 1969 and retiring in 2003 where he was the high school librarian.

Dan was a member of the former Williamstown United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the NRA and Loyal Order of Moose, and a social member of the Williamstown American Legion and Williamstown VFW. He was also a member of the former Williamstown Military Band.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Shuttlesworth Huddelson, 2004; a brother, Thomas Huddleson; a stepson, Adrian "Charlie" Ancheff.

Surviving are two sisters, Susan Hambleton and her husband Clyde Thomas, Lancaster, and Ruth Frankhouser and husband Brian, New Holland; a brother, David Huddleson and his wife Pamela, Clay, New York; his friend and caregiver, Yvette Pfeffer, Pine Grove; two stepchildren and their families, George Ancheff and his wife Diane, Williamstown and Dorothy Gottlemann and her companion, Rob, Las Vegas; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30- 2:00 at the chapel. Dan will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Charles (Charlie) Joseph Nahas
, Hazleton PA passed away on January 19, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born in Shenandoah PA to the late Philomena and Fred Nahas and Stepfather Simon Walitis.

Charles was a 1953 graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School.

After high school he enlisted in the US Army, where he served in Germany. It was there that he would meet his lifelong friends.

After returning home he met and married Sophie (Starzetsky). Together they would celebrate 52 years together until her death in 2011. They made their home in Bristol PA after he accepted a position working for Rohm and Haas Co.

While employed there he attended Drexel University earning a degree in engineering. He continued his career at Rohm and Haas until his retirement in 1994.

Charlie was an avid hunter, who enjoyed spending time outdoors with his good friends and fellow members of his hunting club. He enjoyed tinkering with all sorts of things, there was nothing he could not take apart and fix.

To Charlie family was everything. After retirement they would make their way back up state (Hazleton area) to help take care of aging family members. In his later years he became a code enforcement officer for North Union Township. A position he held until his passing.

Charlie was always up for a trip to the casino, especially with his daughters in tow. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and organizing all class reunions for Shenandoah Catholic High School.

Charlie is survived by his childhood friend and loving wife of 10 years Mary (DeFilipps, Currie). Charlie was the loving father to John Nahas (Mary), Sandra Gorewich (Scott), Barbara Perugini (Jim), Diane Dineen (JD), Karen Stubbs (Skip) and Betsy Hartman (Andrew). He deeply adored spending time with his grandchildren Veronica, Daniel, Michael, Nicholas, Eric, Rachel, Chelsea, Devon, Christopher, Jack and his great grandchildren Rory, Wren, Caleb, Gavin, Lillian, Arabella, Danica and Alexia.

He was preceded in death by his brother John Nahas (Renee). He will be deeply missed by his cousin John Sion {Delores} and lifelong friend Bucky Lavis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 31st at 11:00am in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Sheppton, Pa, and will be officiated by Fr. Dominic Pham. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00am in the church. Burial will immediately follow services in the Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Ronald E. “Pinky” Yeakel
, 89, formerly of Andreas, passed away on January 17, 2025. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Steigerwalt) Yeakel. They were married 59 years until her passing on January 27, 2020. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Kraft Foods for 25 years. Born in Jim Thorpe, he was the son of the late Leo F. and Beulah M. (Peltz) Yeakel. He honorably served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton. He was a member of the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club, Orioles Nest 183, and East Penn Sporting Club, all of Lehighton, Andreas Sporting Club, and West Penn Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Pinky, as he was affectionately known, made a lasting impression on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. The time he shared with others was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Leo Jr.; three sisters, Fay Cheese, Hazel George and Jean George.

Surviving are a son, Derek, and his wife, Catherine, of Andreas; three daughters, Lisa, wife of Gregory Mousseau, of Tamaqua, Ramona, wife of Donald Fegley Jr., of New Ringgold, and Pamela, wife of Craig Hockman, of White Haven; sister, Rose Farrell, of Laurys Station; sister-in-law, Charlotte Yeakel of Clark Summit; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Saturday, January 25, at the Hartman Funeral Home, 1791 West Penn Pike, New Ringgold, PA., with a time of reflection to follow. Private interment at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Lehighton. Contributions may be made to Carbon County Animal Shelter, 63 Broad St. Nesquehoning, PA 18240
