Gail D. Simms
, 74, of Sunnyside Dr., Wayne Twp., Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at home.

Born on May 21, 1950 in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late Marlin and Arlene Kehler Ramer.

She was a 1968 graduate of North Schuylkill High School.

Gail was a Banker and Operation Specialist.

She was a member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Shenandoah.

Gail loved her cats, Bella, Jetty, and Michael.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Marlin "Butch" Ramer and Wayne Ramer; two sisters, Debra Moya and Janice Ramer.

Surviving are her high school sweetheart and husband of 52 years, Lawrence Simms; a son, Jason and wife Amber Simms of Schuylkill Haven; a grandson, Kaiden Simms; a brother Ronald Ramer of Halifax.

There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, 18 Wertz Dr., Pine Grove, PA 17963 in her memory.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph B. Bubble
, father, grandfather, brother, friend, 77 years of age of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Accent Care Inpatient Hospice Ctr. in Wilmington, Delaware surrounded by his daughters.

Born Tuesday, June 10, 1947, in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Joseph and Kathleen (Bright) Bubble. Joe was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sara M. (Mulholland) Bubble on September 30, 2024; brother, Alfred P. Bubble; sister, Sandra K. Wychulis and her late husband Carl "Bud"; niece Angela Rhubright Dewine; and nephews Rodney Bubble and Mark Waidell.

Surviving are; daughters, Jolene Baddick wife of Eric, Megan Dickey wife of Jason both of Wilmington, DE; brother, Leon Bubble and his wife Karen; sister, Betty Ann Waidell wife of Mark; sister-in-law, Barbara Bubble; grandsons, Evan Baddick, and Macon Dickey. Nieces, Cheryl Martuscelli, Tina Gallagher, and Rhonda Bubble; and nephew, Joseph "Joey" Bubble.

A 1965 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Joe served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Joe was a “Railroader” that retired to Bear Creek Lake in Jim Thorpe after a long career from Amtrak, a career that relocated his family from Tamaqua to Meriden, CT, then Albany, NY, then finally settling in Wilmington, DE. A talented woodworker, Joe enjoyed making furniture and carving duck decoys. He was an avid outdoorsman who looked forward to fishing and hunting trips. Catholic by faith, Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Wilmington, DE and the Tamaqua American Legion.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 1, 2025, at 11 o’clock A.M. from the funeral home. Friends may visit from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.

Interment will be in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville Pennsylvania.

Stella Gottschall
, 102, formerly of Forestville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22 at the Gardens at York Terrace, Pottsville.

Born in Forestville, November 1, 1922, Stella (Stephanie) was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Zadrosny) Sorokach.

She was a graduate of the former Cass Twp High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, and playing cards. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Minersville and a member of St. Matthew’s Church of Holy Family Parish, Minersville. She was member of the Church’s Women’s Sodality.

In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by brothers, John, Wassel, Michael, and Walter Sorokach; and sisters, Mary Carbannaro, Susan Kenders, Julie Melusky and Anna Kadingo; and by husbands, William Jones, Frank Balcavage, and Lee Gottschall.

Stella is survived by 2 daughters, Sylvia Kanish, Schuylkill Haven and Patricia Dennis, Georgia; a son Ronald Balcavage, Schuylkill Haven; 7 grandchildren, Cynthia (Ciaran) Schoenauer, Deborah (James) Walker, Scott (Lia) Radziewicz, Tia (Thomas) Williams, Loyd Avant, Danielle Radzka, and Jennifer Yerusavage; 9 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven, on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the Church from 9:15 until the time of the service. Internment will be in St Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville.

Carolyn Kay Koop, 80, of High St., Pine Grove, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born on July 26, 1944 in Newcastle, WY, she was a daughter of the late Levi "Shorty" and Ida Ray Hockett.

She was a member of the Tri County Worship Center, Bethel.

Carolyn was a mother and a teacher.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Steven Koop; a daughter, Trudi Kay and husband Tim Horning of Canton, TX; a son, Mark Alan and wife Katrina Koop of Boca Raton, FL; five grandsons, Tyrel and wife Angela Campos, Aric and wife Rachael Campos, Justin and wife Kate Koop, Zachary Koop and companion Melissa, Dylan and wife Brittany Koop; ten great grandchildren, Nash Campos, Makenzie Wessner, Gabriel Campos, Athena Campos, Kyler Koop, Damian Koop, Cameron, Caden, and Cole Koop, Duncan Koop; a brother, James Hockett of Newcastle, WY.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2:30 P.M. at the Tri County Worship Center, 1501 Schubert Rd. Bethel, PA with Ted Williams officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 02:30 PM at the Church. Interment will be at a later date in Upton Cemetery, Upton, WY.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Tri County Worship Center 1501 Schubert Road, Bethel, PA 19507, in her memory.

Donna M. Potts, 77, of Schuylkill Haven, died Sunday January 26, 2025, at Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville, December 26, 1947, She was a daughter of the late Donald and Laverne (Shaw) Hughes.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Schuylkill Haven, PA

She was preceded in death by her husband Selby Potts in 2012, brother-in-law Edward Reifsnyder, sisters–in-law Grace Flecha and Betty Cole, nephews Chris Reifsnyder, Fred Rabbits, and Corey Flecha and a very special angel, Brady Koch.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Jodi Sitcosky and her husband Joseph of Schuylkill Haven, Kim Hasenauer and her husband Erik of Schuylkill Haven a sister Judy Reifsnyder, 4 grandchildren; Jacob Sitcosky, Sarah Kulbitsky, Jenna Sitcosky and Eve Hasenauer, nieces, Jennifer Koch, and Angela Durantine, nephews, Michael Reifsnyder, Paul Flecha, Juan Flecha, Wesley Rabbits, Derek Potts, Josh Lagle, Jimmy Lagle and a sister-in-law, Patricia Hopkins.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be a memorial announced at a later date.

Glenda J. Kerschner, 65, of New Ringgold passed away on Wednesday at the Reading Hospital.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Miriam Kercher Eller.

Glenda was dedicated to her family and was especially active in her children and grandchildren’s lives and activities. She was an event planner. Glenda loved to plan parties, showers, and all manner of family events. She also enjoyed working on crafts.

Glenda is survived by her sons, David Elliott husband to Sabrina of Palmyra, Daniel Elliott partner to Stephanie Schmidt of North Plainfield, NJ, Keith Kerschner of New Ringgold and Keven Kerschner husband to Nicole of Lake Wynonah. She is also survived by her siblings; Sharon, Kathy, Brenda, Donna, David, Christian, and Polly Jo, along with grandchildren; Jonathon, Jocalyn, Katie, Karissa, Nicolas, Jason, Mackenzie, Dawson and Brandon and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth who passed away in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth Eller & Christopher Eller.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to the funeral home to assist the family with defraying expenses.

Michael James Chylack
, 83, of St. Clair, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, at his home.

Born in Pottsville, December 30, 1941, He was a son of the late Gerald and Clementine (Gouris) Chylack.

He was a 1960 graduate of St. Clair High School. He worked at Reading Anthracite for 30 years, and owned Chylack’s Plumbing and Heating with his father.

Michael was an avid Hunter and Fisherman and his love and curiosity for the outdoors lead him on many adventures throughout the country. He was a staple of the Arnot’s community and could always be counted on to lend a hand or share fresh grown veggies from his garden. He was a founding member of the English Center Lodge, Lycoming County, and member of Arnot’s Fish and Game, Sleepy Hollow, and Camp Irem.

Surviving are 2 sons Michael Chylack (Denise), Gerald Chylack, 3 daughters Stephanie Davenport (Robert), Colleen Stokes (Randy), Lori McGeary (Andrew), sister Hermine Murphy (Daniel), 7 grandchildren with one expected in May, one great grandchild, and longtime friend and companion Janice Skrobak.

Funeral Services will be held Friday January 31, 2025 at 11:00 am from the Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North second Street, St. Clair. The Rev. Jack Murray will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM at the funeral home. Internment will follow in Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville.
