Brian H. Eckley, 61 of Pottsville, died peacefully Wednesday surrounded by his family at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.He was born October 20, 1963, in Pottsville a son of Henry J. Eckley, Pottsville and the late Margaret Dodds Eckley who died January 27, 2024
Brian was a 1981 graduate of Pottsville Area High School and a 1985 graduate of Penn State University. After completing his education, Brian began his career with the Schuylkill County Planning and Zoning Commission. He later became Executive Director of Pottsville Area Development Corporation. Brian then transitioned to a successful 25-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, where he served in various roles as a field representative, a manager for several major pharmaceutical companies and a lead of corporate advocacy.
Brian was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Brian was known for his love of entertaining family and friends. He enjoyed hosting gatherings, ensuring that no holiday went by without a dinner or party at his home. Brian loved preparing delicious meals and soups, always ensuring that no one in the family or neighborhood ever went hungry. He was eager to offer his professional expertise to those around him.
Surviving in addition to his father are his devoted wife, Susan Gaburick Eckley with whom he shared 37 years of marriage; a son, Matthew Eckley and his partner Michelle, Denver, CO; a daughter Dr. Jayne Eckley, New York, NY; brothers, Christopher Eckley, Hummelstown; Stephen Eckley Middleport; nieces, nephew, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11AM from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, with Rev. Kevin J. Bobbin as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9AM until the time of mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Brian be made to St. John Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901 or Nativity Preservation Fund 1 Lawtons Hill, Pottsville, PA 17901.
