Jane DiCasimirro
, 94, of Morea Road, Mahanoy Township, PA, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, died peacefully on January 24, 2025, while a resident at Providence Place, Pottsville. Born and raised in East Norwegian Township, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Rush) Muldowney. During her youth, she resided in Lower Mill Creek along with older siblings John and Mary Louise (Brennan), younger sister Ann aka Nancy (Leaswitch), her parents, and her grandmother Jane (Tray) Rush. She is the last surviving member of her parents’ family.

Jane attended East Norwegian Township elementary schools and Saint Stephen’s High School, Port Carbon, of which she graduated as valedictorian with the class of ’48.

While in high school she worked at Pomeroy’s Department Store, Pottsville. After graduation she worked as an operator with Bell Telephone in Pottsville. She later worked in the business office of Style Specialists, Pottsville, and a few other local clothing manufacturers until she started to raise a family.

Jane enjoyed learning to dance and attended many local dances including one at the “Vets” in Pottsville where she happened to meet her future husband, Arthur. She and Arthur were married in Saint Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church on June 16, 1956. Arthur and Jane’s home was always a welcome place for family and friends; you were invited to enter, sit down and relax, and have something to eat and drink.

Jane was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, and later St. Teresa of Calcutta R.C. Church, both of Mahanoy City. She was faithful in her visits to Eucharistic Adoration in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

Jane and her siblings enjoyed visiting St. Kieran’s R.C. Church, and the “Irish Festival” in Hecksherville. Jane enjoyed reading, spending time in the kitchen, and relaxing with music or an episode of Lawrence Welk. She was known for baking apple cake for church fundraisers, preparing Easter bread and Easter ravioli dinners, and playing the piano - traditions that she passed down to her family.

Jane is survived by her children Arthur (Lynn), Lisa Broomell (Arnold), Christine Evancho (David), and John (Teresa); grandchildren: Kayla (Tim), Arthur, Gianna (J.P.), Christy Alise, Zachary (Bryianna), Aaron (Cassie), Emmanuel (Julianna); great grandchildren: Blaise and Henzley Jane, and several nieces and nephews.
