Ray was born in Landingville on October 18, 1935, a son of the late Dewey and Minnie (Ritter) Hoffman. He was drafted into the United States Army and served as a Staff Sgt., completing a tour of duty overseas in Germany.
He worked for and was retired from Reading Industries, a local manufacturer of copper tubing.
Ray was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg, and loved to spend time with his family. He and his late wife, Dorothy, enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit all of the lower 48 states.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Palmer) Hoffman in 2013, and by four brothers and a sister.
Surviving are his two daughters, Susan, wife of Eugene Morgan of Schnecksville and Betsy Green of New Tripoli. Two grandchildren, Alexander Green and Shannon Green also survive along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Bible Baptist Church, 511 Farmington Road, Breinigsville, PA 18031 on February 8, 2025. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 West Market Street, Pottsville, is assisting Ray's family during their time of need.

Vita (Modica) Valenti, 84, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Born in Burgio, Italy September 9, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Carmelo and Catherine (Genova) Modica.
Vita’s passion was taking care of her family.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, PA
She was preceded in death by her husband Filippo Valenti in 2016.
Surviving are 2 sons Vito Valenti and his wife Kelli of Pottsville, Carmelo Valenti of Orwigsburg, brother Joseph Modica, Italy. sister Lia Nielli, Italy, grandchildren Phillip, Gabriella, Vito, Filippo, Olivia, Lucia and Samson Valenti.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Wednesday, January 8, 2024 from St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 201 Randel St Schuylkill Haven Schuylkill Haven. The Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik will be officiating. Friends may call from 8:30 AM – 10:15 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or by visiting https://www.alz.org
Burial will be in private in St. Ambrose Cemetery.
