Utility Pole Sheared in Gilberton Accident

A utility pole was sheered in a crash in Gilberton on Sunday morning.

According to Frackville Police, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 10:45am, Borough Police were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of Main Street in Gilberton.

Upon arrival a Mazda sedan, driven by Sean Bankes-Pineda, 18, of Berwick, was observed with disabling damage to the front passenger side and a utility pole was completely sheared off and being held up with the wires still intact with residence.

Investigation revealed that the cause of the accident to be a vehicle malfunction. This being consistent with the driver’s claim that he lost control of his vehicle and suddenly had an inability to steer the vehicle. Investigation also revealed that Bankes-Pineda did not have a valid driver’s license and will be cited by Ptlm Bryce Dragna.

Assisting with the accident were Gilberton Fire, Mahanoy City Fire, Shenandoah EMS and Steve’s Towing.
