One person was injured after a driver went the wrong way in a construction zone on Route 61 near St. Clair.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, around 4:30am on Route 61 in New Castle Township just south of the intersection with Darkwater Road.
Troopers say Samuel Lenker, 41, of Sunbury was driving south on Route 61 in a Ford Box Truck when he crossed into the northbound lane cattle chute in the construction area and struck Matthew Lopez, 28, of Schuylkill Haven in a Ram 2500 head-on.
Lopez suffered unspecified injurie and was transported to an area hospital by Schuylkill EMS.
Lenker was not injured but will be cited for the crash.
Route 61 northbound was closed for approximately an hour until the scene was cleared.
