In a Schuylkill League Boys Semifinal matchup, the Pottsville Crimson Tide secured a 54-44 victory over the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears, advancing to the league championship game against Minersville.
This marked the third meeting between the two teams this season, with each previously winning on their home court.
The game began with Pottsville jumping out to an early 16-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Crimson Tide maintained their momentum through the second quarter, taking a 27-14 advantage into halftime.
Mahanoy Area fought back in the third quarter, narrowing the deficit to just eight points as Pottsville led 38-30 heading into the final period. However, the Crimson Tide managed to hold off the Golden Bears' comeback attempt, securing the 54-44 win.

Despite the loss, Mahanoy Area, the No. 1 seed in the District XI Class 3A tournament, will look to regroup as they prepare for more postseason play next week.
Meanwhile, Pottsville moves on to the Schuylkill League Championship Friday night, where they will face Minersville at 7:30 p.m. at Martz Hall.
