The Minersville Battlin' Miners took the court at Martz Hall in the Schuylkill League Boys Basketball Quarterfinals and went home with 76-42 victory over the Weatherly Wreckers on Saturday.
Minersville, the Division 1 #2 seed, set the tone early, closing the first quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 15-8. Their momentum only grew from there, as they outpaced Weatherly, the Division 2 #3 seed, with an offensive surge that gave them a comfortable 41-23 lead at halftime.
The Battlin' Miners continued to control the game in the second half to widen the gap. Minersville’s relentless pace proved too much for Weatherly, sealing the 76-42 victory and securing their spot in the Schuylkill League Semifinals.
Minersville will face Nativity BVM on Wednesday in what promises to be an exciting semifinal matchup as they continue their quest for the league title.
Weatherly's season isn't over yet, they have earned the 5th seed in the District XI Class A Playoffs.
